Magic might not leave a paper trail, but money did.
Maybe it was time for me to fight back in my own way.
If I did, maybe I would finally be able to sleep without nightmares.
Or talk to handsome men in grocery stores.
I sat up and took my laptop from the night table next to the bed. I would do a little discreet digging, see what I could find out, and then I would decide what to do next.
I opened my laptop and saw a new message waiting in my inbox with the subject "Job Offer."
Okay, so I would do the digging and deciding after I checked out the email. I needed funds to keep doing what I was doing and I would need more if I chose to fight back.
When I opened the email, I was pleasantly surprised at the offer. One of my previous clients had referred me to Mr. Andre Dumont. The pay was high enough to pique my interest and, based on the details he sent, the job would only take two to four weeks to complete, depending on a few factors that would be determined in the next week.
For the first time in a year, it seemed that destiny was on my side.
I typed out a quick response to his request for an interview, stating that I was available for video chat or telephone interviews, but wouldn't be able to meet face-to-face as I was currently working on a small project in Austin, Texas. It wasn't the complete truth, but saying I was trying to be less of a basket case likely wouldn't net me the gig.
After the email was sent, I settled back against the pillows on the bed with a Snickers bar, a cup of coffee, and started my search for more information on Rhiannon Temple and her current whereabouts.
