Amber eyes blinked slowly open and he tried to speak but only managed a grunt.
"His mouth is sliced up inside," I interjected quickly. "He can't talk, Seb."
"Okay," Sebastian said soothingly. "Don't try to talk. I'm Sebastian and I'm here to help." He laid his hand on Sky's forehead again. "You're running a fever. Do you know if you have any allergies to antibiotics?"
Sky managed to twitch his head from side to side.
"Okay. Just hang in there for a minute." Turning to his Alpha, he accepted a pair of latex gloves, pulled them on, and held out his hand. "The 500-milligram ampicillin syringe." When Alrick hesitated, he sighed. "The purple one, babe."
Turning back to Sky with the pre-loaded syringe in his hand, Seb held it up slowly. "This is a derivative of penicillin. It will be our best option of getting a handle on the infection. Is that okay?"
Sky hesitated and then looked at me.
"I'd trust either of them with my life, Sky," I said quietly.
Sky turned back to Seb and nodded.
"Okay. I'm going to unbandage your arm so I can administer it."
Sky didn't even whimper as the bloody bandage was peeled away from his skin. A slight wince was his only response when the needle bit into his arm.
"Good," Seb said softly. "Do you feel like you're going to be sick?"
Sky tilted his head from side to side.
"Great." Seb turned to me. "Can you pull up the pictures on your phone for me? The ones that came through on our end were a little small."
"Sure." I flipped through them, pausing on each one until Seb nodded for me to continue. When I reached the end, he raised a brow. "You stitched his feet up?"
"Had to," I said with a shrug. "Whatever they were cut with did some serious damage."
"Not complaining," Seb assured me, his eyes still fixed on the screen. "What did you use?"
"Dental floss," I said. "It was still unopened, and it was the only thing I could be sure was sterile."
Sub just nodded and turned to Sky again. "Your stomach is still okay?"
Sky nodded again, and Seb reached for a small bottle on the table and a spoon. "I know your mouth is still in bad shape, but you're seriously underweight. Have you eaten in the last few days?"
A negative head shake made Seb grimace. "I didn't think so." He turned to me. "Can you prop him up on those pillows, please?" Seb waited for me to finish and then eased himself down on the bed next to Sky. "Open your mouth for me and try to be patient." He offered Sky a gentle smile. "This is going to take a while."
