But now that I’d met Sky, I wasn’t willing to continue settling.

"I'll have Drey draw up papers canceling the dissolution, for now," I said, "but only until we deal with this. We aren't getting back together, but I will get rid of Darren."

My cell phone buzzed on the coffee table, notifying me of an incoming text from Rafe. "I have to answer this," I told her more gently than I meant to. "And I have something I have to take care of for Rafe, but I'll make sure that Clint knows the situation and, for now, you're fine here." I hesitated. "But Sky isn't going anywhere, so you better ease up on the bitchiness, okay?"

I could see the relief in her eyes when she nodded.

"Can I go back to my room?"

"Of course," I sighed. "Chloe, are you sure you don't know where Juno is?"

She shook her head sadly and I groaned.

"Okay. We'll keep looking." I stood up and shoved my phone into my pocket. "I need to go meet with Clint." I gave her an assessing glance, decided that maybe it was a little too soon to trust her, and let the Alpha voice out again. "You need to stay here until Clint tells you otherwise, okay?"

When she quickly agreed, I headed outside and pulled the door closed behind me. Opening Rafe's text message, I growled in frustration.

Can you be at our place at midnight?

I checked the time and sent back a thumbs up. That gave me just enough time to catch up with Clint and figure out where Sky had wandered off to.

So much for a break.
