I could almost hear Clint shaking his head. "I texted him first and he says no. He thought maybe you had."

"No," I huffed, scratching absently at the dried mess crusted to my skin. "As far as I know, that damn restraining order is still in effect.”

"What do you want to do about it?"

"Give me twenty minutes to shower and I'll meet you."

"Trev and the boys are still sleeping. I'll be in the office."

I hung up and went back to the bedroom. "You still awake?"

One sleepy amber eye cracked open, making me smile. "No."

"I have to go meet with Clint," I said, brushing a kiss over his ridiculously soft hair. "I'll be back soon."

When the amber eye drifted closed again, I headed for the bathroom, wondering just how quickly I could find myself back in bed with my Omega.

When I walked into our pack office, I didn't even bother to hold back a huff of annoyance. Not only was Chloe already there, the punk sitting next to her with a self-satisfied smirk on his smarmy face was anything but a stranger. The fucker was one of her original pack that we’d helped after they were attacked.

I rolled my eyes and looked at Clint sitting behind his desk. His face would have been a study in calm if it weren't for the muscle under his cheek that twitched every so often. I knew exactly how he felt.

"This is how it is, huh, Chloe?" I shook my head. "Where's Juno?"

"You don't speak to her without my permission, asshole!" the guy next to her snapped.

"Really, Darren?" I raised a brow. "You're on our pack lands in the middle of well over five hundred werewolves with no backup and you think pissing onmy legal matein front of me is a good idea?" The twerp paled considerably. I turned back to Chloe and brought out the Alpha voice. "Where is she?"

"He said she's safe," Chloe answered promptly, chewing on her bottom lip. Her eyes darted nervously to Darren. "I don't know where. He, ah, wouldn't agree to bring her until after he met with you."

I felt a snarl rising in my throat, but Clint's broke first.

"That pup is a member of my pack," he said, his voice dangerously soft. "If she's not back here by dawn in two day’s time, there isn't going to be enough of you to bury." My brother pinned Darren with a glare. "Is that understood?"

Chloe swallowed hard but remained silent. When Darren waived a hand in the air, she flinched away and my gut twitched.

"My mate stays here," I announced, crossing my arms over my chest. "Until my daughter is returned to me, Chloe goes nowhere."

Chloe gave a small gasp.

"You can't do that!" Darren gave an angry roar.

At least, I assumed that's what he was going for. It was a little underwhelming.

I yawned.

"Come along, Chloe," I instructed her, motioning her in front of me. I sneered at Darren. "My Alpha will handle the kidnapping negotiations."

With that, I ushered Chloe out the door and toward my cabin.
