Chapter Fifteen
Colt
Even as the words came out of my mouth, they stunned me. Not just that I had said them to a man I'd only known a few days, but that deep in my gut I knew I fuckingmeantthem.
It wasn't like I was overwhelmed by the novelty of having a man in my bed. Sky wasn't the first man I’d been with. Far from it.
Granted, for the last few years I'd gravitated toward females. But if I was honest about it, that had more to do with habit than any sort of actual preference. When my twin brother, Clint, had taken over running our pack after the last Alpha – our father – retired, he'd focused all his energy on the job at hand. Since Clint hadn't found his soul mate yet, that meant that the job of ensuring our bloodline would carry on had fallen to me. I had embraced the task – and the female betas willing to play with me – wholeheartedly. As a result, pursuing female partners had become a habit.
Until Sky.
What exactly did it say about me that I'd just had the best sex of my life and hadn't even gotten inside him?
"I think that's your cock talking," Sky snickered, pressing a kiss just above my heart before wrapping his arms around me and pulling my weight down onto his body. "Mmm, you feel good like this."
"I'm not crushing you?" I lifted my head far enough to look into his face. His eyes were at half-mast and a satisfied smile fluttered on his lips.
"Nope," Sky sighed, tugging me back down so our lips could meet and hooking one leg around my thigh to hold me close. "It's perfect."
"It's still early," I murmured in his ear. "Let's go back to sleep."
Sky's only response was a tiny snore.

Bzzz! Bzzz!
The unmistakable sound of my cell phone trying to vibrate its way off the dresser where I'd tossed it on my way to bed, dragged me unwillingly out of the dream world I was floating in. While we slept, Sky and I had shifted positions and I was no longer pinning my Omega to the bed. Instead, we were spooning and, for what I suspected was the first time ever, I was the little spoon.
Sky's arm was thrown over my chest, his leg was draped over my thigh, his nose was nestled against my neck under my ear, and I could feel his semi-hard dick pressed against my butt. The last thing I wanted to do was slide out from under the covers.
Bzzz!Bzzz!
Only a limited number of people have my cell number, so if my phone was blowing up, someone needed me for something important.
I sighed and began to untangle my limbs from the sexy man wrapped around me, stopping to kiss each body part as I did.
"What are you doing?" Sky's sleep-addled voice grumbled. "Get back in here."
"Can't," I muttered back, letting my hand pause on his dick for a little squeeze. "My phone's ringing."
Sky's response was more of a moan than an actual word and I leaned down to kiss him. "I'll be right back."
Seven missed calls, all from my brother. I swiped over the screen to check the time. Two forty-five in the afternoon, not exactly a normal time for him to be hunting me down. I thumbed the notification for the last missed call and waited impatiently for him to pick up the line.
"Hey." Clint's greeting was unusually terse. "Where've you been?"
"In bed," I responded, more than a little confused. "Have you checked the time?"
In the silence that followed, I knew that: first, no he hadn't, and second, he was doing it then.
"Shit. Sorry, Colt. I didn't mean to wake you up, but this is important."
"No problem," I yawned, shoving a pod into the coffee maker and sliding a cup underneath. "What's up?"
"Chloe," Clint said succinctly. "She's herewithher new Alpha."
Okay, I had to admit that I hadn't seen that coming. "What new Alpha? And why is she here? Did Drey set something up?"
