Chuckling, Win patted his father on the shoulder. “You’re the youngest senior citizen I’ve ever seen, Dad. I wouldn’t worry.”

On their way out, his mother stopped and took her purse from the bench by the front door. They walked them to their car, where the four of them stood in the darkness.

“I hope we see you again, Elliot. Soon.”

“Very subtle, Mom. You’re something else. I love you.” He leaned down to kiss her cheek. “Call me when you get home. Talk to you tomorrow, Dad.”

They hugged, and his mother smiled at Elliot.

“It was so nice to meet you, Elliot.”

“Good-bye, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers.”

She put a hand on his shoulder. “Susan and Jack, please. Hopefully we’ll see you soon.”

“Bye, Mom.”

Shaking his head, Win slammed the car door and watched them drive away.

“I’m really sorry I interrupted your family time. I should’ve gone straight home. It was stupid to barge in.” Shoulders slumped, Elliot turned away, but Win grasped his arm.

“No, it wasn’t. I’ve said it’s fine. It was getting late, and despite my father’s refusal to admit it, my mother’s right. He shouldn’t be driving home late at night.”

Large oak trees lined the street, and Win leaned against a gnarled trunk, taking Elliot with him, but Elliot shook off his hands.

“Whydidyou rush out this afternoon? Was it something I said?”

“No, of course not.” Win slipped his arms around Elliot’s waist. “I’m sorry I worried you. I had some things on my mind I’d forgotten to deal with.” Coward that he was, Win hoped Elliot wouldn’t demand an explanation and they could pick up where they’d left off.

“Is everything okay?”

He couldn’t have this conversation, not tonight with all the guilt streaming through him from everything he’d been hiding.

“Yeah. All good. You’re looking pretty hot in that tie. Where were you coming from?” He hooked his thumbs into the belt loops of Elliot’s slacks and drew him close, this time with success. The roughness of Elliot’s evening beard scraped his cheek, and Win wanted all that and more touching his body. Making love to Elliot in the morning wasn’t enough for him.

“I was supposed to have dinner with Wolf, but he never showed. He’s done that before, setting up a dinner, then getting called to some emergency by a client, only this time he told me it was urgent. So I had a few drinks with Spencer and Chess, and waited for him, but then I left. When the car dropped me off, I saw the light on and decided to come see you.”

“Mmm. Lucky me. If you’re really hungry, you can have a sandwich now, orwe can go upstairs and have a midnight snack later.” The hard ridge of Elliot’s erection pressed against him, and Win cupped his ass. “I can give you something sweet to suck on in the meantime.”

“God, that was awful.” But Elliot smiled and rubbed up on him, and Win growled into his neck.

“You want me bad, though, don’t you? Tell me.” He rotated his pelvis, catching Elliot’s whimper of pleasure with his mouth. “I want to fuck you so hard. It’s killing me. Let’s go inside before we get in trouble with the neighbors.” Something buzzed on his leg, and he raised a brow. “That happy to see me, huh?” The buzzing continued.

“Stupid,” Elliot huffed out, his eyes crinkling shut as he laughed. “It’s probably a ton of texts from Wolf about why he missed the dinner.” They walked up the path to the house.

With his cheeks flushed and his lips slightly swollen, Elliot was a dream come to life, and Win couldn’t wait to get up to the bedroom and feel the wet, delicious suction of that mouth on him. Maybe they wouldn’t even make it upstairs. The ache to be inside Elliot grew stronger. He needed Elliot.

The front door closed behind them, and he grew a little annoyed that Elliot was concentrating on his phone instead of him.

“Hey, what’s so fascinating?” He tugged at Elliot’s hand, but the laughter had vanished from his eyes. “What’s wrong?”

“Can I ask you something?” Elliot’s face had drained of all color.

“Anything.” Inexplicably, his heart began to pound.

“Are you married?”
