I come to a standstill when I see Bri, Marcia and Pattie sitting where I’d been earlier. Rushing over, I sit and look at Bri. “I thought you’d gone home. Are you okay?”
“I’m okay, but I’m going to kill that bitch if she tries it again,” Bri is looking around the rec room, and thankfully Saddle is standing near the bar with Breaker who is giving him a serious talking to by the look of it. Julia is nowhere to be seen, so that’s a good thing at the moment.
Pattie leans forward in her seat and taps her fingernails on the table. “Julia is doing it to get a rise out of you, Bri. She’s not as innocent as everyone thinks she is. If she tries again, I suggest you go at her hard, and yeah you punched her, but you need to do some damage, and let her and your old man know it’s disrespectful.”
Marcia squeezes Bri’s hand, and I give her a nod of encouragement. “We are with you, Bri. Whatever is needed we are standing with you.”
“Thank you. I was ready to go home, pack my stuff and leave town. I’m sick of this shit happening all the time.” Bri rubs her hands together, then looks at Marcia. “You are the best friend I could have ever had, and I’m so lucky to have you in my life.”
“Hey, I told you we are BFFs and you can’t get rid of me, no way, no how. If you run off I’m coming as well.” Marcia puts her arm around Bri, and I put my hand on top of Bri’s hand on the table. Both of us show Bri the support she has.
“Did I tell you guys that I’m not a club girl any longer?” Pattie states shocking the three of us.
“What?” Marcia splutters.
Pattie grins. “No, I’m working for the club as the marketing and design manager for the businesses, and I’m going to expand my clientele. I always wanted to do this, and that’s why I came here to earn the money to do the courses. Whack knew that’s what I wanted to do as I told him that when I first walked into the clubhouse. I wanted away from my stepfather too; he was a disgusting person.”
“Yeah, well, that is behind you now,” Bri smiles for the first time in a few hours.
“Do you think you could do a marketing plan for the practice? I would be happy to look at it. The website for the practice is outdated, so ideas for that would be good as well.” I give Pattie a serious look so she knows I’m not messing with her.
“I can do that, Molly. Wow, thank you so much for the opportunity,” Pattie gushes, and gives me a huge smile.
“Let me have it when you’ve done it, and we’ll sit down together and discuss it.”
“I have a small office here that Whack allowed me to have. It’s only like a closet but I can work in it, and Bull has set up everything I’ll need. I’m going to prove to them I’m thankful for all they’ve done for me,” Pattie says this with such warmth you know she is genuine in what she’s saying.
The next morning, I look up when someone taps on the open office door. I’m more than a little surprised when Ghost is standing in the doorway. “Ghost?”
“Hi, Molly, I hope you don’t mind my coming to speak with you. I asked Breaker if it was okay, and he said to come here.”
Now, I’ve never seen a biker look worried, but I can see Ghost is. “Come on in and take a seat. Would you like a coffee?”
“No thanks, I’m too nervous to drink it.” Ghost chuckles, and I settle back in my seat and wait for him to speak.
When he continues to sit quietly, I have to ask. “So, what can I do for you, Ghost?”
“I wondered if you would speak to Thorn for me. He won’t give me the time of day, and I need him to know why I left, and that I had left provision for him to be looked after.” Rubbing his hand over the back of his neck shows his nervousness. “He doesn’t know the entire story.”
“Okay, tell me the story, Ghost, and then I’ll decide if I’ll help you or not.”
In the next ninety-minutes Ghost tells me everything that he has been doing, how he thought his son was being looked after. Hewants a relationship and to join the MC. Even the fact that he’s going to find his so-called friend and either beat the shit out of him, or put him six feet underground.
Tapping my fingers on the desk when Ghost has finished speaking, I give it serious thought. I like Thorn, and I know he is not in a good place as far as his father is concerned, but he needs to know it all. “I’ll help you. But you stay away from him until I’ve spoken with him. Go to the clubhouse, find a way of being useful, make it so you are reliable, trustworthy, and will make a good brother. It’s the only way this is going to work.”
“I can do that, Molly. Thank you,” Ghost states, and I can hear the sincerity in his voice.
“Don’t thank me yet, Ghost,” I reply, and watch him walk out of the office. Now, how am I going to approach Thorn!
CHAPTER 32
*~* Breaker *~*
Walking into the craft shop, I smile at the woman behind the counter. “Morning, I hope the hoodie is ready?”
“It is…just a moment and I’ll get it for you.” The woman rushes into a back room and then returns with a bag, which she hands over to me. “I hope it’s what you wanted.”
I take the hoodie out of the bag, and the back of the hoodie has the club logo nice and bold. It looks fucking awesome. Turning it to look at the front, I smirk because where you would have a breast pocket is a small club logo with Breaker underneath it. “Perfect. That is fuckin’ perfect.”
