“No problem, I can do that. I’ll take Molly for a ride while I’m at it.” I can imagine having her on the back of my new hog. It’s a financial hit, but one I’m happy to make. I spend little of what I earn, and have guarded my savings since we were doing dirty work. Thankfully, we are not into that anymore, although other MCs we have been affiliated with in the past try now and again to drag us back.
“Okay, come look whenever you like, and bring your idea of the paint job you want done. You may be surprised as I was when you see this baby,” Smoker sounds surprised, but in a good way.
“I’ll come over as soon as I can. I have things to do for Pres first, then I’ll get over to you.” Cutting the call, I walk over to where Bear is speaking with Cannon, Whack and Saddle.
“I’ll take her and put her on the fuckin’ plane. She’s dead to me now, Pres. You can’t always help people, and she’s someone who can’t be helped. Her dad tried, and I’ve tried. She needs to live in the real world and work as the rest of us do. I’m thankful Bull got my savings back where they belong. I’ll throw her three grand, and that’s all she’s getting. It’s more than most would get to start out on,” Bear looks pissed, and I can understand. We’ve all seenhim batting for Angel to improve and have a decent life, but she’s a hopeless case.
Whack slaps Bear on the shoulder. “Brother, you’ve done more than enough. Stop feeling bad about it. She has made this situation herself. Let’s get her gone and move forward. Your house is sold, and you’ve got out of it what you wanted. That is past now, so let's look to the future.”
“Yeah, you are right, Pres. My brother had already washed his hands of her, and that should have been the sign something was wrong and I should have just let it go at that point,” Bear still looks stressed and we all know he loved his brother, and this was his way of trying to stay close to his memory.
“Guardrail will go with you to the airport. Just make sure she gets on the damn flight. Check around that she’s not slipped off and is still here because if she does that, Bear, I’ll put a bullet in her head myself,” Whack gives Bear a look that promises that’s exactly what he’ll do.
“Pres, if she does that you’ll not need to because I’ll do it myself.”
We all watch Bear walk away, and know this will have an effect on him, but we just don’t know how much as yet. “We all watch his back after this. Make sure he comes through it intact mentally and he realizes his worth. That man has been one fuck of an uncle to that bitch, and it’s her loss she didn’t see it,” Whack states before walking toward his office.
“Anyone want a ride?” I ask the room in general.
Hellion, Zion and Chips are up and walking toward me without asking where I’m going. Heading outside to our hogs, I keep my amusement to myself because when they realize where I’m going they are going to curse.
Thirty-five minutes later, I am standing outside the local jeweler's and listening to my three brothers cursing about pussy shops and not wanting to be seen outside. “Well, fuck off down the street. You could stop by and see how Andy and Thorn are getting on? I’ll catch up in a while.”
“Good idea, I don’t want to stand here and catch any shit from this place. The last thing I need is a woman,” Zion grumbles as he starts his hog and heads down the street.
Chuckling at the three of them getting away from here as fast as they can I step inside and speak to the man behind the counter. We all know Ezrah; he’s been here since he was born. Never left for any reason, and he married his high school sweetheart, and they are still together, happily too.
“Hi, Ezrah. How are you and the missus?” I ask as I stop in front of the counter and allow myself to browse the rings in front of me.
“We are very good, Breaker. I hear you have yourself a nice lady?” Ezrah gives me a bright smile, and I can see he wants me to dish out the information on Molly.
Small towns are all the same; everyone wants to know everyone else’s business. But with the likes of Ezrah, it’s because he genuinely cares, not because he’s damn nosy. He has had a few dealings with the MC, and one was when his son died. We found the one that ran him off the road, and let’s just say he didn’t enjoy any more sunshine. All this because he wanted the woman Ezrah’s son was dating.
“I have got myself a nice lady, and that’s why I’m here. I want an engagement ring, and a wedding band for her and myself.”
“How about a set? I have one that is new in the shop, and a limited number of them were made. Do you have the sizes you need?”
I hand over the ring I took from Molly’s jewelry as it’s one I’ve seen her wear on the correct finger. “This is one she wears on her finger so I know this is the size.” I hand over the ring, and Ezrah sizes it before handing it back to me.
“Let me see what size you are, Breaker,” Ezrah quickly sizes my finger and then walks away before coming back with a blue velvet box.
“I think this is beautiful, and if I were young and getting with my woman again, I would choose this in an instant,” Ezrah murmurs, right before opening the box, and I am amazed because this is stunning.
Two wedding bands and an engagement ring sit neatly in the box. White gold plain band for the man with a pattern along the edge. The woman's band has five diamonds in a row showing the front of the band. The engagement ring has a diamond in the center and is encircled by other diamonds. What makes this set stand out from the usual wedding sets is the fact that the diamonds are black in the center and the others are brilliant-cut diamonds.
“They are your size. You were lucky because if these had not been right you would not have been able to have them. They are stunning, and black diamonds are rare, so you will not see many others to match these.” Ezrah is waiting for my decision, and it’s an easy one to make.
“I’ll take them.”
“You are a wise man, Breaker,” Ezrah smiles, and tells me the cost of the set. It is actually nowhere near what I imagined I would have to pay, so I’m feeling fairly good.
Rings tucked safely away, I head out of the shop and to where I can see the brother’s hogs are still parked. Parking next to the other hogs, I head into the barber's shop to see what’s happening.
“What do you want?” I hear Thorn snarl, and I’m more than a little shocked because I’ve always thought he was on the quiet side.
“I want to get to know you. Be in your life from this point,” the mystery man states.
I’m not sure who the fuck this is because they have their back to me. All the brothers are standing watching whatever is going on, but they don’t seem concerned so I sidle up to Zion, and keeping my voice low, I ask, “What’s going on?”
