“Where is Marcia?”
Bri giggles, “She’s around the back of the compound. We found some wire snippers, and we are cutting a hole in the fence so we can sneak through without risking the prospect on the gate. We can reach the shed from the back, but we’ll have to be careful in case there is prospect or brother on some kind of guard duty.”
“Oh, I never thought of that.” I twist my hands together in thought. If there is a brother on guard how are we going to get rid of him? I’m sure Bri or Marcia will have it planned, so I’m just going to go with it.
At the back of the compound, we join Marcia after leaving Bri’s vehicle under a willow tree. That was tricky, getting under it and then getting out of the vehicle and away. But it covered it, and it was an ingenious idea.
We don’t speak as we push our way through the hole Marcia has made in the fencing. I can’t help but think that she is right we are going to be in trouble. We reached the shed, which is an old building that housed garden and vehicle equipment, Bri told me. Converted into ‘The Shed’, which is how it’s spoken of covertly.
Bri whispers. “Nobody on guard duty. They must have her locked down tight to leave her without someone watching her?”
Marcia replies while whispering. “Do you think there will be a brother inside?”
I’m keeping quiet because I have no idea what to expect when I walk into the place. I follow behind the two of them, not saying a word while my eyes are darting around the darkness for any sign of movement.
Opening the door, which was not locked. We look at each other before looking around to see if we are walking into a trap but don’t hear or see anything, so we enter, close the door quietly and move forward to the next door we see.
This door squeaks a little, and we stop in fear someone will hear. My pulse is beating fast, and although I want to come face-to-face with Carrie-Anne I don’t really want to get caught and punished.
The third door has us in a room that looks like nothing is here, but that can’t be right? Bri and Marcia are standing next to me with the same puzzled look. There is a rug, two easy chairs and a small table. No more doors? There has to be something if they use this as ‘The Shed’ surely to goodness?
Stepping forward, I grab the edge of the rug and pull it back. Revealing a trapdoor in the floor. I look at Marcia as she gasps with shock. Bri is shaking her head as though to say, sneaky.I open the door and head down the stairs that have been revealed. They are rough and wobbly as they are wooden, but at least there are a few lights around here so we can see where we are going.
At the bottom of the stairs, there are two doors. The first one is slightly open, and empty. The second one is locked, and we can hear someone speaking inside. Bri taps my shoulder and points to a key hanging on the wall next to the door, and I grab it right before looking at Bri and Marcia. “Are you two ready?”
“Oh, yes.” “Let’s do it.” They reply at the same time.
Pushing open the door Bri enters first. Marcia follows her inside, and I bring up the rear. I pull the door closed and lock it, which will give us time if one of the brothers comes down here to check.
Carrie-Anne is handcuffed to a metal table, which looks to be fastened to the floor. What surprises me is the second person handcuffed to the other side of the table. Angel in all her dirty glory.
“Well, well, well…” I laugh. “Look what we have here. Two thieves and disgusting family members. Carrie-Anne, you are a disgrace to your dead father’s name, and Angel you are the same. A petty thief, aren’t you, eh?”
“Get me out of here, Molly,” Carrie-Anne snarls.
I turn to Bri and Marcia. “Did you hear that? Get ME out of here. No mention of Angel at all, just herself.” I give her a vicious look, which for once makes her swallow hard and flinch.
“Selfish is what she is. You hear her, Angel, you see she’s going to leave you here to face the shit?” Marcia pushes, but continues. “You know you are in more trouble than you can probably handle. Your daddy is dead, mommy nowhere in sight that I know of, and your uncle ditched you because you were a thieving bitch. Time to end you, ding, dong…you hear that, Angel? It’s the Grim Reaper coming for you.”
Angel keeps her head down, but I can see tears running down her cheeks. It’s a bit late to be sorry now is what I think. Honestly, they think they can get away with murder. Literally too.
“So, Carrie-Anne…you told the Broken Cobras I would pay them for the money you stole from the boyfriend you were seeing, hmm? That right? Because you have no chance, I’ll never help you ever again. I’m not sure if I should kill you now, or hand you over to the Cobras.” Turning my back on the table, I walk to the door, and lean my back against it with my arms folded.
“You are my stepsister, and you have to get me out of here. You know Dad would want you to do that?” Carrie-Anne whines, thinking that mentioning my dad would help her. She’s got no chance at all.
“You’ve got a nerve talking to me about Dad.” I’m not going down that rabbit hole with this bitch. “You answer to me or the Cobras, which do you want it to be?”
Carrie-Anne laughs, and she must think I’m joking? Well, she can think again. I walk over to the long table with all types of things on it. I pick up a hammer and walk back to Carrie-Anne. Without saying a word, I bring that hammer down on her handcuffed hands, and I hear bones breaking, along with her screams.
“Fuckin’ hell, Molly!” Bri shouts, but when I look at her she’s hopping from one foot to the other but is laughing and clapping her hands at the same time.
“Jesus! I didn’t know you had it in you, Molly.” Marcia laughs too.
Angel has passed out, and her head hit the table so hard I reckon the stupid bitch will have herself a concussion.
Banging starts on the other side of the door. Bri, Marcia and I look at each other, grimace and know we are in deep trouble. “Shall I open it?” Bri asks, and she sounds more than a little nervous.
Carrie-Anne is crying, with snot running down over her lips and chin. I turn away while heaving a little at that sight, but I give Bri a nod. Before she gets the key turned I dive for the table, pick up the Taser and light that up on my stepsister, laughing like a fiend as I watch her shaking and screeching.
