Now, I sit up straighter in my seat and give him my nastiest scowl. “I can hit the person I need to thank you very much!” Standing from my seat, I glower at him. “I’ll report after I’ve seen the street kid tonight.” Turning to Cannon I give him a frown. “Time to take me home”
I don’t hang around. I walk out of the office, wave to Bri and Marcia who are sitting at a table in the rec room. “See you later,” I shout and quickly head to the SUV. I get in and wait for Cannon to catch up.
Walking into the house a short while later, I set the coffee pot going, and head upstairs. I shower quickly and change into skinny jeans and a tee, with a hoodie over the top. I grab sneakers and put them on. I don’t want to be caught hopping if I have to run.
Downstairs I pour a mug of coffee and lean against the sink, smirking because I got out of the clubhouse without Whack giving me a gun. He’ll realize anytime now and send one of the brothers I reckon.
My phone pings, and I pick it up and see it’s from Breaker.
Breaker: I won’t be home until late. I’ve a lead on your stepsister I’m following. Stay safe, babe.
Molly: I have a lead too, and I’ll stay safe. You too, babe.
Smirking because that’s the first time I’ve said babe, and I can imagine he has that stupid half-grin on his face when he reads that. I’m getting deeper into the,me and Breaker thing,I realize, but you know, I’m not worried about it. All relationships have to start somewhere, and this is our somewhere. The only thing I won’t forgive is cheating. I cannot stand cheating assholes, whether it’s a woman or a man doing it.
A bang on the door, and I hear. “Molly, it’s Griller. I’ve got something you need to wear. Breaker has sent it.”
Opening the door, Griller steps inside and hands me a box. “What is it?” I ask as I take it from him.
“Usually, Breaker would give you this at the clubhouse and everyone would be around. But he wants you to have it before you go tonight. It’s security. It tells everyone you are claimed by a brother of the club, an officer at that, and if anyone touches you the whole of the MC will come down on them.” Griller waits forme to open the box and when I do I gasp as it’s a leather property cut the same as Bri and Marcia wear.
On the front, it has a patch that states, ‘Babe’. Now that has my eyes rolling because how novel is that? Turning it around, it has Property of Breaker and the club’s logo. I look at Griller, and he gives me a small smile, nodding for me to try it on.
I slide the cut on, and run my hands over the front. When I look up Griller has his phone out videoing the moment. I give a huge smile and do a turn so the back can be seen. I blow a kiss at the camera, and Griller laughs. “That’ll be good for Breaker to see, Molly.”
It’s only a few minutes before Griller leaves and I get something to eat, then get ready for Bri and Marcia to come for me. I make two mugs of coffee and take them out to Zion and James who has a few bruises on his face. I hand them a bag of chips each and a meal bar before stepping back in the house and waiting.
Two hours later, we are standing in an alley between two shops. The young girl is moving from one foot to the other. Obviously nervous about speaking with us. “If you need help you reach out to us, now or in the future. We are more than grateful you are helping us find this bitch. She is my stepsister, and she is not worth having around. She is the reason the Broken Cobras MC is coming into town. It’s going to start a war between the MCs, if it hasn’t already.”
Bri hands the girl an envelope. “The thousand bucks is in there. Now, quickly tell us and move so you are not seen with us. In there are our contact details. We will come for you if you need us.”
The girl gives us a look, takes the envelope and then speaks. “She’s living in a black van. She and another woman are both horrible. She parks the van behind the old mercantile store. You know the one on the edge of town with the large parking lot. She parks behind there every night. It’s really dark behind there because there are no lights working for the lot anymore. It’s like the black van seems to melt into the shadows.”
“Good, that’s great, thank you.” Marcia smiles, “We can get the bitch now.”
We all watch as the girl runs down the alley and disappears. We look at each other and nod that we’ve got something to follow. “Now, do we go? Tell the Cobras? Or tell Whack?” Marcia asks.
“We have to tell, Whack,” I say, “although it’s choking me to say it. I’d rather deal with my freaking stepsister myself, but if I want trust to go both ways I need to tell Whack.”
CHAPTER 24
*~* Breaker *~*
Riding around for hours is not my idea of fun when on a mission. Nothing to show for the last four hours, and I’m about ready to blow my fuse. The lead was a house on the edge of town, and we’ve been back and forth checking for any sign of Carrie-Anne. Nothing, absolutely nothing. We have seen no sign of movement at the place at all.
“I’m going in. Keep watch,” Wraith snarls, and I know he hasn’t got the most patience out of us all, but he has kept his cool up to this point.
Whack sending three of us was a good idea, and Hellion along with Wraith are both mad bastards who fear nothing. Since leaving the service and joining the MC, it’s obvious they have lost the fear of dying. Probably some form of PTSD, but you gotta be some crazy to be in special forces.
Hellion taps my shoulder, gives me a hand signal before scooting to the right and silently slides into the shadows and around the house. We left our hogs two streets away and tried to sneak up on this place. Seems there was no point because I don’t think she’s here, and I don’t think she has been here.
A rumble hits me, and I slide back into the shrubbery, keeping low and out of sight. Bikers, that’s what I’m hearing…this is a fuckin’ trap!
I flick my eyes around and wait for Hellion and Wraith to appear. They have to have heard and understood what is going down. On my right, they appear, both stiff with tension. “Don’t move, Breaker,” Wraith murmurs quietly.
I hunker down further with Wraith on one side of me and Hellion on the other. Hellion has two knives at the ready, and I know he’s fucking good with them. I’ve been practicing myself at times, but I’m nowhere near as good as Hellion, Wraith and Vortex. Vortex, of course, is the expert, and we all struggle to emulate his skill.
“Did you see anyone?” A voice states.
