“You coming for me already, my pet?” Danica buried her face against Alicia’s throat. “Your pussy’s so tight I can’t move a thing.”

“Uh-huh…” Orgasm quickly shot through her, and a whine was quicker to vibrate against her forearm. “Fuck, Mistress. You feel so good.”

Danica moved with shallow thrusts that served more to help Alicia ride out her orgasm than to claim anything for herself. Tender kisses to her cleavage and the sucking of her nipple had Alicia coming again right away. It was then that her wife decided to join her in carnal bliss.

Afterward, when she lay wrapped around Danica, their naked bodies exposed to the air conditioner humming above them, Alicia drew circles around her wife’s navel.

“Danica,” Alicia said, resting her chin on her chest. “Tell me you love me.”

She opened her eyes, hand clutching Alicia’s shoulder. “I tell you all the time.”

“I want to hear it now. Please.”

“I love you.” Danica kissed the top of her head. This kiss followed the line down her nose as Alicia gradually sank back against her pillow, wife looming over her.I love it when we’re like this.I want her wrapped protectively around me every day. She drew her fingers across Danica’s soft chest, wishing they could stay like this forever. The only time she truly felt happy anymore was when they indulged in the sanctity of their marriage. “I’ll do anything for you, Alicia.” Danica’s lips went down her cheek, her throat, her chest, her stomach. They lingered on her abdomen, hands massaging her tender breasts. “I’ll do anything forus.”

She meant the other person in the room, the one existing between them, a passive spectator who still knew nothing of the world beyond its mother’s womb. Now, more than ever, Alicia believed what she had been telling people for days.I’m pregnant. I’m still pregnant.Russell could poison her, set her on fire, or push her out of her high-rise window, and Alicia MarieMoreau would still find a way to survive and bring her child into the world. We’re both fighters.Tears streamed down her cheeks. Danica never noticed them. She was too caught up in covering Alicia’s stomach with loving kisses.

“I can’t do it alone. You promise me you’re going to be a good mother.”

Her kisses stalled. “I’m going to do the best that I can.”

“That’s not good enough.”

Danica finally noticed the tears on her wife’s face. “Precious,” she said softly, coming back up to kiss those tears away. “If anyone could inspire me to be a good mother and wife, it’s you. I hope I haven’t given you a reason to believe otherwise.”

Alicia couldn’t bear that thought. “Shut up and kiss me, wife.”

She did.

Chapter 19

The receptionist’s voice blasted over Alicia’s intercom early Thursday afternoon. “Mrs. Moreau?” Startled, Alicia dropped her expensive fountain pen, a huge smudge forming on her paper.Shit.“You have someone here to see you.”

“Who is it?” Why couldn’t she ever be more descriptive? “I’m busy.”

“Too busy for me?” came a lightly accented, somewhat familiar voice.

Alicia gave up fixing the smudge on her paper. “Come on in.”

Dee admitted Natsuko Matsuda to Alicia’s office. The Japanese heiress wore a green and blue floral dress that swished with every movement of her long legs. She is officially hotter than me.Alicia wasn’t jealous. Nope. Just incredibly bloated and irritable.I woke up like this. Threw up half my dinner. Still bloated and gross. Her shoes didn’t fit great, either. Was it too soon to have swollen feet? Because her feet were totally swollen.

“Pleasure,” Alicia said, standing up and forcing a smile. She shook Natsuko’s smooth hand. The guest sat in a chair. “What can I do for you, Ms. Matsuda? In town for long?”

“Only for two or three days, unfortunately. I actually can’t stay long, as I have some meetings to attend.” She tossed her silky black hair over her shoulder. “I decided to stop by and see the miracle for myself.”

Alicia slowly sank back into her chair. “What miracle?”

“Why, the miracle of you being the new Mrs. Moreau!” Natsuko’s laugh was more practiced than Alicia’s smile. “I could hardly believe it when word reached me in Osaka. My father was even more shocked. He and your father-in-law were still having talks about me marrying Danica. Which, hm, is such a big step for my dad.”

Of course they were. Mr. Matsuda probably had no idea what he was signing his daughter up for. Russell, on the other hand, knew perfectly well that his daughter was already married! “I’m sorry if this means there is animosity between us. Danica and I married quite… quickly.”

“Please. What animosity?” Natsuko was perfectly capable of her own cheeky grins. “Besides, your situation is quite something else. Willingly becoming pregnant with another woman’s egg before you’re even married? I daresay, even my father was floored by the concept. He knows about surrogacy, of course, but nothing like this.”

“My…” Oh. Right. The story. “I see.”

“Don’t worry, Mrs. Moreau.” Did she actually delight in saying that to Alicia? “I never had a real interest in your wife. She’s something else, but I barely knew her. You were in the picture before I had the chance to even consider dating her.” She held up her hands. “Not that she ever asked!”

Alicia brushed this exchange off. “No worries. So, what can I do for you, then?”
