Chapter 13
Keeton
Nearly fucking Lainie in my office was probably not my brightest idea since I’ve been hard as nails ever since. Try squatting down beside a bike in that state, fellas. On second thought, don’t, because I may have permanently damaged one of my favorite body parts. Hell, I think it might be worth it, though. Did I suspect Lainie was untouched? Hell no. But, I’m not gonna lie, I’m pleased as shit. I knew that woman was for me the second she stepped foot in my office. The fact that she’ll only have me, and only me, makes me puff my chest out like a goddamn rooster.
I don’t get back to my office from the shop until after three. I peek into Lainie’s office and see the lights are out. “Shit. I forgot she was leaving early today.” I’m suddenly bummed out. I rushed around in the shop to get back here sooner. I’m going to need to knock that shit off. This is my livelihood. I need to take care of that. If not for me, for her. I shake my head. Since when did I become this fucking pussy-whipped? I haven’t even gotten my dick wet. Alright, I’m feeling like an emotional yo-yo. Thankfully, my phone vibrates in my pocket. Checking the screen, I see it’s Deb. “Hey, Deb.”
“Hi, honey. How are you today?”
“I’m okay. Why wouldn’t I be?”
“Oh, I don’t know. After you called yesterday, I was curious if your new friend decided to work for you.”
“Lainie? Yes. She started today.”
“And?”
“And what?” Women. No matter how un-female Deb acts, she’s just like the rest of them when it comes to getting into my business. In her defense, I called her first.
“And?”
“She did great.”
“That’s it? You’re not going to expand?
“No.”
“Jesus, it’s like pulling teeth. Fine. I’ll just have to come see for myself since you won’t talk. Besides, you promised me a beer. Talk to you later? I’m here if you want to talk.”
“Sure. Yeah. Talk to ya.” I hang up the phone shaking my head. “Women.”
Since I’ve got nothing waiting for me in the office, I head back out to the shop. Might as well get some shit done.
