“To let her know we need to get ready to meet the Moons.” I felt like I’d had this conversation several times already.
“Get y'all’s asses up! We’re going to Ohio.”
Done.
Dad walked in, “Why is Jesse waking Adelaide?”
I laughed. I guess I’d be repeating myself a few more times anyway.
Chapter 31
Reverie
Mom was over the moon that we were going to meet with the Moons. I was going to have to rethink the use of some of my expressions. Nathan and Zane were reluctant to get out of bed. Zeke and Oren were more than happy to help them along.
“What the fuck?” Nathan squealed.
“Storm, I’m going to fuck you up!” Zane jumped out of bed after Oren doused them with cold water.
Just wait until they look in the mirror and see the new facial hair they sported, thanks to Zeke and a permanent magic marker.
Jet didn’t participate, looking on with amusement. He wasn’t completely innocent, though. He’d been happy to give Zeke advice on his part of the prank.
“I told you to get up,” I smirked.
Nathan walked over, slapping me on the ass on his way to the bathroom. “You wore us out, Nexi.”
Zane was dripping wet when he pulled me in for a long kiss, getting my clothes soaked in the process.
“You might have worn him out, but I’m up for another round. Join me in the shower?”
Suddenly he jumped in the air and grabbed his ass as the sound of a whip hitting its target echoed throughout the room.
“Son of a bitch!” Zane yelled before turning to Oren.
A stream of fire shot out of his mouth, headed directly for Oren’s face.
Oren threw up a shield made of shadows and deflected the flames.
“Zane, stop!”
I yelled and put my arms around his waist, laying my head on his back. He was burning up.
Out of nowhere, a blast of ice enveloped Zane's fire, and the flow of the flames stopped abruptly.
When I raised my head, Oren was staring at Zeke in amazement.
Zeke looked as stunned as Oren, and when he turned his head in my direction, I noticed his pupils had transformed into those of a reptile. His beautiful sapphire eyes now featured a black, slitted pupil occupying the center.
Zane turned, gathering me close, and I saw his eyes mimicked Zekes' exactly.
“What the hell is going on?” Zeke asked in disbelief.
“Looks like your ability is showing itself in a spectacular fashion,” Oren said wryly while smoke rose from the burnt sleeves of his shirt.
I ran to him, “Are you hurt?”
I frantically checked his skin, but it looked as smooth and gorgeous as it always did.
