“No, baby. I’m fine. I couldn’t contain the entire force of the flames, and my clothes suffered some damage.

“Damn, did you two gingers get dragon powers?” Nathan frowned, obviously pissed at what he thought to be the Moon’s good fortune.

“No. I think they have the ability of the Draxon. No one has developed that ability since…”

“Let me guess. Queen Lilibet’s reign?” I interrupted Oren.

“Yes, Queen Lilibet's Faction, to be exact.” Oren pulled me into his arms. “Baby, this has to stay under wraps. I can’t imagine what my father would do with this information.” He shuddered at the thought.

“Things just keep getting more dangerous for our Nexus. Deshawn is going to meet us in Ohio. It’s time we upped our game.” Jet rumbled, abruptly leaving the room.

“Everyone, get dressed. You need to leave so you can spend time with the Moon family, and I need to get back to the academy.” Oren kissed me on the head and then left, following Jet. I’m sure he was going to find out precisely what he had planned.

The Moons lived in a small Aurathion settlement approximately fifty miles east of Cleveland, on the shores of Lake Erie.

I arrived in their backyard with Nathan and my dad. Neither of them was willing to let me out of their sight until they assessed the situation. I would have loved to see the town, but we were trying to stay away from public spaces in case Selene had eyes and ears in all the settlements.

The rest of the guys and my parents appeared seconds after we did. I was impressed that no one had spilled the beans about the new facial hair Nathan and Zane now had. However, both had looked at all of us with suspicion when we burst into laughter at odd moments.

I heard a squeal, then was wrapped in my bestie's arms.

“I’m so glad you’re here. My parents have been dying to meet my best friend and roommate.”

“I’m sure meeting the Nexus to their twin sons wasn’t even on their radar.” Zeke rolled his eyes at his sister.

Chloe stuck her tongue out at them, then did a double-take and died laughing.

“What the hell is on your face?” She asked Zane in between chuckles.

Zane looked bewildered for a moment, then his expression cleared in understanding.

“I thought it was just Nathan.”

“I thought it was just you, ginger boy,” Nathan growled.

“I don’t know how you two even made it into a Faction.”

Chloe gasped out, still laughing at them both.

“That’s enough, la’u alofagia. Quit provoking your friends.”

Oliver walked out of the house, his grin huge.

I raised both brows at Chloe, and she shrugged her shoulders and winked.

“Gesundheit,” Nathan said to Oliver with a grin, already over his anger and, if I knew him at all, probably plotting revenge.

“Very funny.” Oliver laughed, pulling Chloe away from me and into his arms.

“What did you call my sister?” Zeke asked, raising his brow.

“Probably brat in Samoan,” Zane smirked, as he put an arm around my shoulders.

Chloe glared in his direction.

Oliver smirked, “She can be.” Chloe redirected her glare to him.

He squeezed her tight, “But most of the time, she’s perfect. I referred to her as 'my darling' because she’s precious to me.”
