“I got zero sleep last night, and I needed the caffeine in my system asap. Thanks for that, by the way, baby.” He turned and gave me the stink eye.
“You should have joined us,” I smirked, having zero shame about being satisfied by my Faction, as long as my parents were unaware.
“Don’t think I didn’t want to, but I need to win your parents over, and I didn’t think that would help.” He strolled over to me and kissed me on the head.
“They’ll come around. Just remember that I’m your Nexus so your first priority is pleasing me.” I joked and pressed a kiss to the underside of his jaw.
“Sounded like you were getting pleased well enough last night without my input.” He grinned.
When Zeke started chuckling, I jerked my head around to stare at him accusingly.
“You said you couldn’t hear anything.”
“No. I said that I could feel your desire. Never did I say I couldn’t hear it, too.” He turned his back to me, trying and failing to hide his laughter.
Storm sat beside me, “Are you still going to meet the twins' parents today? You don’t have to be back at Emberhold until the morning.”
“I don’t think our plans have changed, but it seems yours might have. You’re not going with us?” I’d been thinking about our visit while I was in the shower, and I couldn’t see any reason to delay meeting the Moons.
Zeke turned slowly, and his smile was so brilliant it was blinding.
“I’m glad we’re still on for a visit. I’m dying to show you off.”
Oren was quiet for a few minutes, and I knew he was working out the logistics.
“I don’t see any reason not to go. You should be perfectly safe.” He looked sad for a moment. “I’m not going to be able to go, because it’s probably better that I show my face around the academy today.”
“Why?” I knew we had to keep our relationship secret, but surely, we could trust the guy's parents.
“Yeah, man, why can’t you go? My parents would never betray us for any reason.” Zeke frowned at Oren, looking more than a little pissed.
Oren sighed, “It’s not your parents I don’t trust. My father has eyes and ears in all the Aurathion settlements. It would get back to him one way or another.”
Zeke looked sheepish, “Sorry, I should have thought of that.”
“We can just stay here. It won’t feel right leaving you behind.” I was aggravated that I couldn’t claim my guys outright.
Oren pulled me onto his lap, “No, I want you to meet the Moons. They are amazing people, and you’re going to love them.”
He pulled me in for a kiss. “Plus, I wasn’t lying when I said I needed to show my face at the academy. After learning about the attacks in Oklahoma and Selene trying to have you taken,it’s more important than ever that my father believes I’m on his side. The information I get from him could be invaluable.”
Zeke set a steaming platter of scrambled eggs, bacon, and biscuits in front of us.
“It’s settled then. We’ll head over as soon as everyone gets dressed. Do you think your parents are still interested in going?”
“Still interested in going where?” Pop walked into the kitchen.
“To meet Zeke and Zane’s parents.” I hopped off of Oren’s lap and sat back in my chair.
Pop poured a cup of coffee and then took a long sip before answering.
“Of course we are. Your mom was even more disappointed than you when we shot down the idea of a bonding ceremony. She’d never forgive us if we cancelled this, too.”
Grumpy entered the kitchen and, like Pop, headed straight for the coffee pot.
“I’m going to wake Adelaide up.” Pop smiled and left the room.
“Wake Adelaide up for what?” Grumpy grumbled, still not completely alert until he’d had his first cup of coffee.
