Pantar followed closely behind, expanding to his largest size and placing himself in front of our door. I could defend myself, but it was nice knowing the big Fellat had my back.
Chloe was lounging in the living room. “Where are you headed this morning?”
I plonked down beside her, “Hey, bestie. I’m going to breakfast with the guys, then to visit my parents.”
“What’s wrong?” she narrowed her eyes.
“How do you know something's wrong?” I tried my best to look innocent.
“I just do. So, spill it!”
There was no point in resisting, so I told her everything that had happened the previous night.
“‘I feel like I’m in the galaxy of This-Sucks-Camel-Dick’!” Chloe growled.
I looked at her, momentarily stunned, then burst out laughing.
“That’s better,” she smiled. “Nothing like aStep Brother's quote to put a smile on your face.” Her smile dropped, “I’mglad you challenged that bitch. What she did was disgusting. I’m surprised Jet let her walk out with her head attached.”
“I think he was in shock. I don’t imagine he ever thought something like that could happen to him.”
I’d never forget the look of helplessness on his face when I walked into the room. I could barely fight the instinct to hunt down that bitch and beat her face in right now.
“No one I know has ever deserved a beat down like that bitch does.” She shook her head in disgust.
We were truly simpatico.
“True that, bestie. True that,” I said, leaning over and hugging her. “So, do you want to come with us?”
“I think I will. Your house is filled with lots of eye candy, not to mention your amazing mother.”
“Whatever.” I gave her the side-eye, slightly grossed out, and changed the subject. “I may also have forgotten to mention that Zeke and Zane want to have a bonding ceremony during winter break.” I braced for her reaction.
“Shut the front door!” Chloe jerked me to my feet and started jumping up and down.
“I knew you’d be excited.” I laughed.
“Excited? That doesn’t even begin to cover it! We’ll be real sisters!” She stopped jumping and pulled me in for a tight hug.
“Don’t tell your brothers, but that’s my favorite part,” I whispered. The smile on her face was dazzling, and I’m sure mine mirrored it.
“Nexus, I hate to interrupt, but your men are getting impatient. The lying one is going to break the door down if you don’t come out soon.”Pantar yawned, not looking that concerned at the prospect.
“Pantar said Jet’s here,” I told Chloe as I went to open the door.
Sure enough, there he was with his usual scowl in place.
“I’ve only been out of your eyesight for thirty minutes tops!”
“Seemed like forever.” He pulled me into his arms and kissed the top of my head.
“This is new,” Chloe grinned, with a twinkle in her eye.
“Get used to it.” Jet grumbled.
I was more than happy to get used to it. We had a lot of things to work out, but he was finally where he belonged. I wondered when my Nexus would decide to mark him. Referring to the power inside me as a separate entity felt appropriate. I didn’t consciously mark my other Faction. It felt like the decision was taken out of my hands.
“It’s about damn time. I thought I was going to have to give you a beat-down.” Chloe narrowed her eyes, “There was this one time I wrestled a giraffe to the ground with my bare hands, so I know I could do it.”
