“Grab my hands.” He told Jet and Zane.
Was he going to teleport us all? What the fuck? They glanced at each other, but did as he asked. I felt my stomach bottom out, and I closed my eyes. When I opened them again, we were allstanding in Oren’s apartment; Zeke and Oren were already there waiting for us.
There was complete silence for a moment as we all processed the fact that Nathan had teleported us all at the same time.
“What happened?” Oren asked as I dropped my legs from Nathan’s waist and stood.
Ignoring his question, I slowly raised Nathan's shirt. I needed to see if I had injured him somehow, too.
A dagger that perfectly matched the one inside my Nexus mark was now on Nathan’s chest. The green lines were interposed with amber and glowed slightly.
Nathan slowly raised his head to look at me. His eyes glowed with love and amazement.
“You marked me, my Nexi.”
I couldn’t argue with that. I just wish I knew how I did it.
Chapter 16
Oren
Icouldn’t believe it. Reverie had done something I’d only read about in my research.
An ability that was thought to have been lost thousands of years ago.
An ability that gave her Faction members all the powers of a Nexus.
“What the fuck is that?” Zane asked no one in particular.
“That is something that hasn’t happened in thousands of years.” I was still staring at Nathan’s chest in amazement and a dash of envy. I wanted to wear Reverie’s brand. Nathan shouldn’t be the only bond to have one.
Unfortunately, if I was right about this ability, Reverie had to be willing to use it… I couldn’t trick her into giving me one.
Not that I would. I was turning over a new leaf.
Maybe.
Probably.
Fuck it. It was too late for that. I wanted her so wrapped up in me she couldn’t tell where I ended and she began.
Nathan, for his part, was smiling like the lunatic he was. I’m sure he was in heaven, sporting a brand that let everyone know who he belonged to. I was more than a little salty about it.
“What do you mean it hasn’t happened for thousands of years?” Reverie looked panicked and headed right for my arms. I liked this. I always wanted to make her feel safe. If she needed answers, I would find them, no matter what I had to do to get them. My angel was so precious to me. I loved it when she got that little crinkle between those gorgeous amber eyes.
“The last time it was mentioned in my research was before Dionysus was born. Once upon a time, Faction members were marked when it was a true bond by their Nexus.” I let them digest this for a few minutes, relishing the moments when I had Reverie’s full attention.
“So, is this a new ability she’s gained?” Zeke questioned.
Reverie turned to look at him, and I narrowed my eyes at the prick. Leave it up to the ginger to fuck it up.
“It would seem so.” I turned to Nathan. “What exactly happened with Reverie’s eyes?”
He was still looking at his chest, not paying attention to anything being said. If he weren’t my Faction brother, I’d ruin him.
“Nathan!” Zane yelled.
“What?” He didn’t even raise his head.
