Chloe was already up and making two cups.

“I hope one of those is for me.” I put as much desperation in my voice as I could.

She looked up and smiled, “Of course, who else would it be for? What’s with the Harley Quinn vibes this morning?”

“I started thinking about what I was going to do to get Shitstorm back, and I felt like the outfit would inspire me.”

“I know you’re going to let me in on that. No one fucks with my bestie.” Chloe narrowed her eyes.

“Hell, yes, nobody else has an evil mind like you do. I have a few ideas, but it’s got to be epic. Maybe something permanent on his body that he can see; remind him not to make decisions for me.” I caught my breath. Making eye contact, we both smiled evilly.

“Let me make arrangements. You can work out a time.”

Chloe smirked, “This is most assuredly going to be epic!”

Yes… yes, it was!

Chloe handed me a cup, and the conversation paused as we both took a sip.

“Damn, that’s good.” I closed my eyes and savored the feel of caffeine hitting my system.

“Sounded like you had a great time last night,” Chloe smirked.

“I’m not the least bit embarrassed. I’ve missed that boy.” I waggled both brows. “Nathan can make you change your religion.”

“If a man could make me scream like that, I wouldn’t give a tinker’s damn in hell who heard me.” Chloe laughed.

“Right?” I started laughing with her.

“How are you feeling after being reunited with your dad?”

She took another sip of her coffee.

“I think I’m still in shock. I’m positively overjoyed, but it doesn’t seem real yet.” I smiled softly, thinking of the happiness I’d felt seeing my mom reunited with him.

“I can imagine.” She took her cup into our living room, and I followed.

We both sat on the couch. “It’s crazy that he’s been in Aurathia all this time. But what I can’t get out of my head is that he’s been part of another Faction.”

Chloe frowned, “You don’t blame him, do you?”

“Hell no! I just meant that it must have been horrible for him. I can’t imagine how I would feel knowing my bonds were here, and I was forced to join with another.” Tears began welling in my eyes.

“He was raped emotionally, Chloe. I can’t even think about what he went through physically.” I wiped a tear that had run down my face.

Chloe grabbed my free hand and squeezed. “Reverie, you have to put faith in your mom and their love for each other.”

“I do. I noticed him flinching away from Pop when he grabbed his shoulders, but he was more than fine with Mom in his lap.” I tried to smile.

“It’s just going to take time. But my money is on him.” She smirked. “This Selene chick better hope your mom doesn’t get hands on her anytime soon.” Chloe’s eyes gleamed maliciously at the thought.

A genuine grin broke free. “That’s for sure. With Dad returning and their bond reinstated, Mom seems to be gaining her abilities back.”

“I hope we get the chance to be there for that.” Chloe finished her coffee and stood. “I’m heading to the cafeteria to meet Sarah and Joan for breakfast. Do you want to come?”

“No, I’m going to see if I can find any of my men. It seems strange that none of them were here this morning.” I went into the kitchen and rinsed my cup in the sink.

“Okay, I’ll see you in class.” She saluted me, then headed out the door.
