“Why would you kill them instead of capturing and questioning them?” Zeke frowned at Jet.

This guy was going to be pivotal in the success of this Faction. I’d known him for years, and he could be just as much of a killer as Jet, but he used reason before he acted. I hoped he retained this skill when the situation involved Reverie.

Jet looked over at Zeke, “They planned on raping Reverie.”

The room erupted.

“What the fuck?” Nathan shouted and pulled a knife from his boot.

Zeke had shoved his chair back and stood towering over Jet, who had remained seated.

“Explain.”

Zane stood, also glaring down at Jet. He and Zeke looked like large matching bookends.

Jet sighed, not the least bit intimidated. “I came into the gym early and overheard them planning on taking Reverie back to

Aurathia. The things they talked about doing to her pissed me off.”

Zane smirked, “You sure are protective of yourfriends.”

“I am.” Jet narrowed his eyes at Zane, daring him to make something of it.

“I hope you fucked them up good before you killed the bastards,” Nathan growled, obviously pissed he didn’t get to participate in their deaths.

I scoffed, “He damn near cut Anthony’s head off. Then hedidcut Torrence’s hands and dick off, stuffing Torrence’s dick in his mouth.” I smirked at their stunned expressions, “I’d say he fucked them up good.”

“Torrence and Anthony?” Zeke asked, “Kristine’s friends?”

“Those two guys were dicks. When we used to hang with Kristine, there were several times I almost beat their ass.” Zane growled.

“I would’ve been happy to give you a hand,” Nathan smirked, slipping his knife back into his boot, content that the guys were killed with the proper amount of blood and gore.

I smiled slightly; I knew he had my macabre sense of humor.

The other three just stared at him.

“Too soon?” Nathan asked innocently.

“Because Jet acted so impulsively, we need to be on the lookout for other students whom the Dark Factions may have planted. They’re after leverage over Reverie's parents; lucky for us, they have no idea how powerful Reverie is, or she would be their focus.”

I turned to Nathan. “I can’t openly claim Reverie, but you just might be able to get away with it. We need to get you into the housing for new Factions sooner rather than later. It’ll be easier to keep track of the people trying to get close to her. When we can’t be with her, Pantar can, and no one will get by him.”

“I thought we ‘needed to wait until after we were all initiated, to be officially bonded?’” Nathan made air quotes.

“I think this incident calls for drastic measures. I’ll see if I can put a bug in the Dean’s ear. Let him know that I think Reverie has found her first Faction, and maybe we should let her do the ritual.”

I was already pondering ways to make this happen.

“I’m on board. I can’t wait to play house with my Nexi.” He rubbed his hands together in anticipation.

“Don’t get too comfortable having her all to yourself.” Zane nodded his head at Zeke.

Zeke nodded back and cleared his throat. “We’re going to ask Reverie if she wants to have a private bonding ceremony with us over winter break.”

“She didn’t get to do any of the special stuff with you two punks, so we’ve decided to make sure she gets to experience it all when she bonds with us.” Zane smiled in satisfaction at Nathan.

“Hey, our bonding was an accident! I’ve made sure to make her feel special every day since.” He began muttering under his breath. “Fucking soulless gingers trying to make me look bad.”
