“Fuck me,” Clarke said, “they got Lyn and Lany.”
It wasn’t a question. We all knew what kind of trouble Lyn and Lany could get into. If Eddie was added into the mix, things became insane.
Man, I prayed Eddie stayed at the penthouse.
“Where is Eddie?” I asked.
Lany, Lyn, and Eddie were like the three musketeers. They very rarely went anywhere without each other.
“We left him at the penthouse with Marcus, that new bodyguard Mr. Harris hired for Lany.”
“And why is he not guarding Lany?” I asked. That was what the man had been hired to do after all.
Clarke snorted. “Ask Lany.”
I looked at Lany and the SWAT gear he was wearing, and I knew the answer. “Have you been causing Clarke trouble again, caro?”
Lany was so cute when his cheeks flushed.
“You’re grounded.”
Again.
“Man,” Lany grumbled, “I’m never going to see the light of day again.”
“Probably not,” I replied. The threat of spanking his ass might actually happen this time. He had scared at least ten years off my life span.
“Lyn.”
“Yes, sir?” Lyn answered instantly.
“Is there a first aid kit in the car?” I had no idea what vehicle they were driving, or what was in it.
“Yes, sir.”
“Go get it.” Both Vinnie and I needed a little medical attention, and I really didn’t think calling in the paramedics would be a wise decision right now.
“Yes, sir.” Lyn pulled away from the confused guard and took off out the door.
I pulled Lany back into my arms before looking toward Carlos and Vinnie. “You two have a problem and you need to deal with it before I do.”
Carlos seemed confused. He frowned as he glanced between me and Vinnie. “I’m still not exactly sure what is happening here,” he said, confirming my thoughts.
“I’m gay, Carlos,” Vinnie said, surprising me with his admission.
“Yes, I know.”
Vinnie’s eyebrows shot up. “You know?”
“I’ve always known.” Carlos chuckled. “What? You think I wouldn’t try to learn everything possible about the man who was my rival?”
“I didn’t think anyone knew.” Sadness entered Vinnie’s eyes. “No one except Isabella, and she was shot and killed a couple of hours ago.”
“Your bodyguard?” Carlos asked. “How was she killed?”
Apparently, he didn’t know everything.
“Someone shot up the mansion while I was talking to Vinnie about Eddie,” I said. “Isabella was killed trying to protect Vinnie.”
