My eyeballs ached.

“Lany, I’m home.”

I dropped my keys into the dish by the door and then hung up my jacket in the closet before going to look for my love. I followed the sound of chatter to the dining room. Lany was sitting at the table with Eddie, whose leg was propped up on one of the vacant chairs. Lyn sat across from both of them.

I raised my eyebrow at the half-eaten pizza sitting on the table in the middle of all three men. “Did you save me some?”

“Sal!” Lany jumped up and ran to me.

I had my arms open to catch him. “Hey,caro.”

God, it felt good to hold Lany.

“Mi sei mancato molto,” I murmured against the warm silky skin of his throat.

“I missed you, too, Sal.”

We both worked at the police department, but our actual departments were located in different buildings. I didn’t get to see Lany at work as often as I liked, but I knew he would always be home when I got there. Lany was the personal assistant to the chief of police. I was a SWAT officer. More often than not, I was the one getting home late for work.

Lany was always waiting for me.

I captured Lany’s lips. I was addicted to kissing the man, and could do it all day, every day. It was that damn good. Kissing Lany was like kissing a live flame. It made my chest burn and my heart beat faster every damn time.

Lany’s lips were buttery soft. Lany opened, allowing my tongue to do whatever the hell it wanted to. I groaned into the kiss as Lany’s sweet scent wrapped around me, deepening the kiss until I couldn’t breathe.

Lany whimpered when I pulled back from him. I wanted to go on kissing my love, but I had other plans for him. But first, I needed to eat something. If everything went according to plan, I would need the strength later.

“Sfamami, caro,” I whispered against his neck. “Voglio fare l’amore con te.”

I couldn’t even begin to describe how much I wanted to make love to Lany. It was my reward for being a good man the entire day long. I had assisted with the planning of a drug raid, rescued a young woman being held hostage in a corner market by a guy strung out on PCP, and dealt with Lany’s uncle.

I deserved a reward.

Lany would do just fine.

Chapter Five

Lany

I waited until the elevator doors closed behind Lyn before shutting the doors to the penthouse and turning. Sal had given me clear indication of how he wanted to spend the evening, and that would have been great if Lyn and Eddie hadn’t started talking about the art show.

I couldn’t leave my two best friends planning alone, so, of course, I had to jump in. Sal had gone to the bedroom over two hours ago.

I felt a little guilty about that.

I peeked in on Eddie. The man was already tucked into bed, but still awake. He glanced up when I opened the door.

“I just wanted to check and make sure you didn’t need anything before I went to bed.”

“No, I’m good.” Eddie blinked sleepily at me. “I took my meds so I should be out here soon.” He pointed to the walkie-talkie on the nightstand that Sal had brought home from work. “If I need anything, I’ll call you.”

“Okay, sleep well.”

“Hey, Lany?”

“Yeah?”

“Thanks.”
