“What do you think about this company?” Xander passed him a prospectus he’d been considering.
“You’re a big softy, you know that?” Ares smiled.
Xander gave him the finger.
His brother whistled. “Really eh?” “Might as well.” Xander shrugged. If he could do anything to help Harper, he would.

“What’s this about going to Mexico?”
Logan Marrock growled as he pushed open the closed door of Xander’s office. Erik moved from the desk where he’d just showed Xander surveillance photos of Dorian Martin and Theo Densen, brother of Olivia Densen.
“Marrock, chill,” Erik said. He glared at him then flicked his eyes to Xander. “You got instructions. Why aren’t you at the airport?”
“Why aren’tyou, Erik?”
Erik shrugged. “Those weren’t my orders.”
“Is this another fishing expedition to find a piece of technology that may or may not exist?”
“This is a job for Team Stealth. Finding and protecting objects is part of what you signed up for, Logan,” interjected Xander. “I’ve explained why this is important. You’re a smart man. You know why I want to trace this back to Dorian Martin.”
“No, not really,” Logan said. “Jordan’s dead, nothing is going to bring him back.”
“Yes, but to prevent another situation like that, I want to know where the attack came from. Are you in or out, Logan?” Xander pressed. He felt sweat trickle down his back. He didn’t love this confrontation.
Logan was the glue of Team Stealth. He didn’t want to lose him, and he gritted his teeth. Maybe theyshouldhave implemented a no dating policy at Axis Management.
“It’s bullshit,” Logan said.
“You have your opinion all you want,” Xander ground out. “But get on that plane or quit.”
Logan got in his space. Xander sighed, he thought they were over this.
“Are you sending me away, so you can take advantage of Harper again?”
Xander raised his eyebrows. “I did not take advantage of Harper.”
Fury vibrated through him. So this cocky bastard thought he would take advantage of the woman he’d protected all these years? That was taking things too far.
“Didn’t you? You could have said no, you could have walked her out of there and the least you could have done is wrap your dick up!” he yelled.
Xander glared at him trying not to show how Logan’s words had just gutted him. He clenched his hands because he would not let Logan see the truth in his words. But the bastard was right. It had all happened so fast with Harper. That night was so intense, and he’d tried everything he could think of not to dwell on it.
Because he wanted more.
He had to talk to Harper. But it didn’t matter from his point of view. If she ended up pregnant, he would take care of her.
With his lip curled into a snarl. “Get on the plane or leave Logan.”
“I’m not going to let my teammates down, asshole.” Logan’s eyes flashed with fury. “But this is the last job I do for Axis Management. It’s obvious you want Harper all to yourself!”
“Harper is free to decide for herself,” Xander said.
“How could she, with your influence? You don’t let the woman far from you and then when she shows interest, you reject her!” Logan took a step toward him just as Harper walked into the office.
Xander moved forward and smiled at him. “And I thought you had that temper under control.”
