“This guy has to get home,” Quinn said. “Coming with me or is Xander taking you?”
“Don’t you have a rehearsal today?” Logan asked Harper. He wanted to stall, to see if Xander would come to his senses.
“It’s okay. If I have to miss it.”
“Kitten.”
“Angel.”
Logan exchanged a look with Xander and shook his head at him.
“You are not going to miss your rehearsal. I’ll go home, Quinn will nursemaid me for a bit and then I’ll come by after your rehearsal.”
“No, you can’t.”
“I can send someone,” Xander said.
Right, but he wouldn’t come himself. He was already distancing himself from them and it made Logan angry.
“I said I would be there, Kitten.”
“Okay. Thanks.” Harper squeezed his hand.
“Are you coming?” Logan asked.
“I got to check in with Ares. I’ll give you a call later.” Xander glanced away.
“Fine.” Logan threaded his hand through Harper’s.
“Xander, can you come with us?”
“Angel, I can’t.” His voice almost broke on the word and Logan felt sorry for the bastard. He was throwing away something good and pure because he was a big scaredy-cat.
“Okay,” she nodded.
“Let’s get out of here,” Logan grunted, taking a step and another, between Harper and Quinn, leaving Xander behind.
CHAPTER-THIRTY ONE -- HARPER
“Thanksforthecookies,Harper. I’ll eat them while studying.”
“Let me know how your exams go,” Harper said, leaning in to hug Hana. “Come and visit us more.”
“I will. You’re sure it’s okay not to feel too sad about Uncle Edwin?” Hana frowned, biting her lip, looking so young.
Harper put an arm around her. “It’s okay to feel that way.”
“Yeah, and If you’re sad, you can always call me, right?” Logan said.
“I’ll text you” Hana smiled at her big brother.
“And I’ll text back.”
Logan hugged his sister and Harper smiled, they loved each other so much.
Logan opened the door at the knock.
“Hi, Mom! Thanks for getting me.”
