“Holy shitballs!”
“No way!”
“Since when?”
“Why didn’t you say anything?”
“Well, goddamn.”
“How long have you known each other?”
“When did you meet?”
“I can’t believe it.”
“Is she a dragon, too?”
Amelia threw her head back and laughed, her shoulders shaking from the hilarity. When she finally stopped laughing, she realized everyone had stopped talking and she felt suddenly self-conscious. However, when she looked at them, they weren’t staring at her, they were staring at Wyatt, open mouthed and wide-eyed. She glanced at him too, but he wasn’t doing anything other than grinning at her, his lips stretched wide. Yet they all seemed to be transfixed by him. Her forehead creased in confusion. Why was that?
“Um, we just met last night,” she said, answering for him since he seemed to have lost the ability to speak for himself. “And yes, I’m a dragon shifter from Wyatt’s clan.”
Wyatt snapped out of whatever daze he’d been in and said, “Do you want to come in?”
“No, we’re good.”
“We won’t intrude.”
“We’ll leave you alone with your mate.”
“Yeah, we’ll leave you two to get to know each other.”
Wyatt shrugged. “Okay, well, I’ll see you all in a couple of days.”
“Don’t rush back,” one of the men said.
“Yeah, take a break, you’ve earned it,” another added.
“Why don’t you take a week off?” the woman said.
“We’ll see,” Wyatt replied.
They said their goodbyes then Wyatt closed the front door behind them.
“Wow,” Amelia said. “They were…”
“A lot?”
She grinned. “Pretty much, yeah. They seemed nice, though.”
“They are. They’re good people. All of them.”
“So, they’re all shifters?”
“Yeah, let me see. There’s a wolf, a bear, a hawk, a panther, and a polar bear.”
“Wow. And the nicknames?”
He chuckled. “They’re related, however loosely, to our species.”
