Istared at the diamonds in front of me, trying to figure out what the fuck I was going to do. Every time I picked up a tool or a jewel, my mind went blank. No, that wasn’t true. My thoughts went to Amethyst and him fingering me yesterday. My body still craved his, my mouth, my lips wanted to touch his, my tongue begged to taste his. I let out a deep breath and shook my head. I didn’t know which way was up, and my heart hadn’t stopped beating in my chest.

“Fuck this,” I mumbled as I pushed away from my desk. I wasn’t going to get any work done, so there was no reason to keep sitting here. I left my office and walked to the kitchen to call Consonance. I hadn’t told her what happened, but I knew the second she saw me, she would know something was up, and the last thing I wanted to do was yell in front of everyone that Amethyst had fingered me into an orgasm that had my eyesrolling into the back of my head, and I wanted more. Instead, I decided to tell her before she saw me.

I picked up my phone, swiped my screen, and pulled up her contact information. I called her, put the phone on speaker, and then set it down on the table.

“Hello?” she cheerfully answered, and I dropped my head onto the counter. “Damn, what was that?”

“My head hitting the counter,” I answered with a humorless laugh.

“Umm, why?”

“Because I did something that I shouldn’t have,” I answered with a sigh. “And I need to talk to you about it before I see you so that you can freak out now and not then.”

“Oh, this sounds juicy,” she laughed. “Spill it.”

“Me and Amethyst kissed,” I said and squeezed my eyes shut. After a few seconds of silence, I looked up to see the timer for the call still going, but nothing else. “Consonance?”

“I’m here,” she slowly said. “I’m just… hell, friend, I don’t know what the fuck I’m trying to do.” She laughed. “No, yes, I do, but I need to see your face when I say it.”

“You want me to hang up?” I asked as I reached for my phone. “I can call you on FaceTime.”

“Oh no ma’am, I am on my way to you, remember?” she replied, and I looked up my watch to see the time. “Have you forgotten that we have to be at Amethyst’s for his birthday dinner?”

“Shit,” I hissed as I stood. “I didn’t realize how late it was.” I looked around, even though I didn’t have to get anything ready because all my things were already at his house. I didn’t remember that I had to go back to his house when I left earlier. “The only thing I need is his gift, and it’s not ready.”

“He doesn’t want shit but you anyway, so anything you make him is just a bonus,” Consonance replied. “I’m outside. Bringyour pretty ass on so you can give me all the details while I drive.”

“Here I come,” I sighed, then hung up. I went back upstairs to grab my purse and keys, then left the house.

“You look so stressed,” Consonance said after I got in the car and she started driving.

“Because I feel-” I stopped talking because I didn’t want to lie. I felt bad, but not because of what Amethyst had done. If anything, I was annoyed that we hadn’t done more. When we were lying there, and I felt the weight, length, and girth of his dick against my pussy, I knew that I was branded for life. Amethyst and I being in bed together wasn’t new; we’d spent plenty of nights together and never done anything. When we went to bed that night, I didn’t think about it. Yes, we’d been drinking and smoking, but neither of us was gone. We were just relaxed. I couldn’t front and say that his getting an attitude so quickly hadn’t caught me off guard, because it did, but he apologized, and I was legitimately over it. His tickling me wasn’t abnormal either; I was ticklish as hell, and Amethyst used that to his advantage whenever he needed to break the tension between us.

“You feel what?” She took her eyes off the road for a second to look at me and smirked. “Because you didn’t feel that dick I don’t want to hear it.”

“Really, Consonance?” I replied, and she smirked. “That’s where your mind went?”

“Hell yeah,” she nodded and laughed. “That’s exactly where it went because I’ve seen you two together for years, and I’m telling you that shit was going to happen no matter how hard you fight it.” She shrugged. “To be honest, I’m more surprised that it happened now instead of years ago.”

“It shouldn’t have happened at all,” I whined as I wiped my hands over my face. “He’s my best friend.”

“Who you kissed,” she said and shrugged again. “Who cares?”

“And he fingered me,” I mumbled. Consonance slammed on the brakes, and the car stopped in the middle of the road. I looked around to ensure no cars were coming, then turned my attention to Consonance, who was staring at me with her mouth open. “What the hell!”

“Exactly!” she said, nodding. “What the hell? You let that man touch you? And you led the conversation with y’all kissed? Bitch, I don’t care about a kiss now. You let him touch you!”

“Drive the car, Consonance,” I sighed and shook my head. “Please, just drive.”

“Fuck no!” she laughed, shaking her head. “I need details, like all of them, before this car moves.” To prove her point, she put the car in park, took off her seatbelt, and turned in her seat to face me. “Talk right damn now.”

“It wasn’t a big deal,” I sighed and shook my head.

“Then tell me what happened.”

“I went to his house last night-”
