Chapter Eight
At about eight in themorning, Shay walked through the door.
Arthur was having coffee as he’d come in earlier.
Shay nodded at him then turned to Seamus and his uncles.“Well boys, are you ready for this?”
Finn nodded.“Aye laddie, I’m assuming you’re the famous Shay Montross. With that name, you just have to be Irish, so that means you’re smart.Question is: “Do you got the moxy for a fight like this?”
Shay tilted his head back a bit and laughed.“Oh, aye Mr.O’Malley, I got enough moxy for this alright. My favorite activity is gathering the trash and dumping it where it belongs.Mainly in an 8 by 10 trashcan. And in this case, I know more about Ria Sanchez than you might think.I’ve been watching her rise to infamy for some time. But it wasn’t until Arthur called me that I finally put the puzzle together.I can say this will be her last hurrah. Her and her son Christopher are going to prison for the rest of their miserable lives. This plan with the bombs was the last thing she’ll ever plan.I found what I needed to put the both of them away.”
“Aye, that’s a good thing then son.”Finn nodded.“Other than kickin’ the step out from underneath her, we care about the pendant she wears. It belongs to our family and has been passed down to the oldest son’s wife for generations. We want it back.My brother Patrick’s wife was wearing it on the day her car wrecked.Sad to say, she bled out before anyone could help her, but that pendant was gone by the time we found her. This Ria has been seen wearing it and we believe she killed Mauve hoping to marry Patrick.Instead, he didna even look at her.Poor man had to raise his kids without his wife.”
Shay nodded.“I’ve given the order to reopen that case well and we should have more answers on that front soon enough. But for now, let's get Ria in handcuffs, shall we?”He beamed at them all.“Then after the cuffs, we put her in a cell. Then we get her into a courtroom where she will get sentenced to life.As in consecutive sentencesoflife. Her son is already turning state’s evidence on her, so he will avoid the death penalty I am told.Murder in the first degree for Seamus’ mother.Besides the smuggling charges, there’s extortion. And the biggest one will be attempted murder for at least a hundred counts for all the employees of the different breweries that she planned to blow up.Hell, maybe we’ll throw in jaywalking while we’re at it.”
Silence fell in the large room as they all realized how far she would finally fall.
Finn stared at him then he reached over and slapped Shay on the back.“Ahh, g'wan!G'wan, g'wan, g'wan with ya!”he exclaimed as he chortled out with a laugh.
Shay was actually pushed over a few steps by the hefty backslap as he tried to regain his balance.
The men in the room all broke into loud laughter.
Finn was a large Irishman and Shay had been shocked at the man’s strength.
Liam brought Shay a cup of coffee and smirked.“Even when we get older, we all still go to the gym.”
Shay took the cup.“Maybe so, but I know that slap’s gonna leave a mark.”
More laughter rippled along the table.
Shay sat down with the O’Malley men.Accepted and welcome as any man could be with the Sons.
Then they laid out their plan.
Arthur offered to have his street guys watching the dock area where her place was.Shay and the men all agreed.Arthur sent off a few texts.
When the confirmation came, they were all having breakfast. She in fact was in her houseboat currently. They wanted to wait until it got dark. They were well aware that she expected the bombs to go off the next morning, so tonight would be the time to bust her.She would still be in the area as she waited for her rotten plan to be completed.
Finn brought in a few extra men who did security and were trustable Irishmen as he put it.Some of the men would get to her men in the next boathouse over first. Then some of the men would bust into her boathouse.
They got ready after they had a bit of dinner.Grabbing their weapons, Shay gave them tasers as well, cautioning them to use those if they could. He said he wanted jail sentences more than he wanted body bags.
So under the cover of darkness, they drove down to the docks. Then everyone scattered to get into place.
It didn’t take them but minutes to do that and even less time to take their prisoners.Finn had been right, the Irish men he called in took down the second boat with her guards with a precision that just seemed right, quick and as quietly as possible.
Shay, Seamus and a few others jumped on board Ria’s boat and busted through her bedroom door and found Ria totally unprepared. She screamed for her men, but no one came to help her. Then she completely lost it when Finn and Liam walked in and glared at her.The pendant was laying on the table beside her chair and she fought with the men that held to get to the pendant, but she couldn’t break their hold.
Finn slowly walked over to the table and gently picked the pendant up and closed his eyes as he held it to his chest. Then he opened his hand and showed it to Liam and Seamus. He looked over at Ria and sneered.“This is the one thing that never belonged to you.You would have had to kill Mauve herself to get your dirty hands on it.You sure as hell never would have gotten it otherwise.”
“And just how do you know that?”Ria screamed at him.“Patrick himself gave me that pendant, he told me it was mine.”
