“You did, and I continued by letting those pack alphas that I am close to know about all that information so that they could help as well and be informed.I'm sure eventually everyone will know, and if they are not on the list to receive the newsletter or to take in freed slaves, it will be because they are unwilling to participate.”Carlos admitted.
“I’m glad you decided to take an active part in doing the right thing.”
“Why would you believe I wouldn’t?”
“I told you because I knew you would. There are many good pack alphas taking no action simply because they don’t know what’s going on.”Cally admitted.
“You’re right, but the word is spreading, and the newsletter is gaining in popularity.I’ve talked to Councilman Carlos, who is a close friend of my father’s, about it.”
“Were you named after him?”
“I was.I asked why he hadn’t notified me, and he explained he was working with the wardens, had just mated, had a pup on the way, and had relocated.Someone else was handling the newsletter, and they would appreciate any help in spreading the word,” Carlos explained.
“There are still a lot of pack alphas to inform. Some alphas have little contact with others and isolate themselves as a defense.”
“A defense from what?”
“From those that are corrupt,” Cally explained.
“I thought most of that was dealt with.”
“It’s improving, but there are at least a dozen pack alphas that need to be removed.”
“I can see why that’s something they don’t put in the newsletter,” Carlos explained.
“Damon and Tyne work on it and get someone taken out occasionally.”
“Like the pack alphas on the west coast?”
“Exactly.”Cally agreed.
He decided he didn’t want to know more yet.Damon or Tyne were the ones to talk to about the matter.Cally knew a lot, but she didn’t know the whole story.Either of them would. This wasn’t what they should be talking about anyway.None of this would move his romance forward.Sunday would be funday, and he needed to find something they could do together that was enjoyable. They needed to be alone where the chemistry would spark, and she would fall into his arms. She was an active woman who engaged in many physical activities.
She was also smart and kept her mind engaged.Cally had a variety of interests, and he knew several of them from the talks they’d had. Both liked crime novels, gourmet foods, several physical activities, and sports like hunting and fishing. He hoped to plan a day she could truly enjoy.
“Don’t make any plans for Sunday.I’m going to surprise you with a day of activities.”Carlos suggested.
“Sounds mysterious and exciting.I’ll leave my planner open.”
Two days to plan a perfect date.Hard for a human, but even harder for a wolf who didn’t go on dates at all.It was a foreign concept to him.He wanted to please her, and a day like this would be perfect for them both.
Saturday was a full day of work.Leslie was handling the internet work and keeping up with it, showing that she was truly good at it.That helped take some of the pressure off the secretaries who were taking the phone calls. He'd hired two more field personnel, and each had been added to an experienced, capable team.Once they were trained, they would be assigned to one of the experienced teammates, while the other would be assigned to another team.Having two newbies work together simply wouldn't work, so shifting the teams was the best call.Once things were under control in the office, he and Cally would go into the field and help work there for a little while to catch them up.
While he had never worked in the field, his mate had, and he suspected she was good at it.She would train him so that he would end up being good at it, too.It would be necessary since, with all the signups, the field teams were getting further behind.Tyne had said he had no one available to send right now, but he might have someone available in a couple of weeks, since he was running a training session then. He'd set up what he considered a perfect day for Cally, and he hoped that she would agree.
It seemed they couldn't get ahead no matter how hard they tried, but at least they were keeping up.Lunch came and went, and they were still busy.At the end of the day, they even worked a little longer and finally turned off their phones.Their website continued to take customers and was available 24/7.It was largely automated; someone still needed to go through and make sure there were no mistakes and move the names onto the list for field personnel.Even though Leslie had been willing to work on Sunday, he told her not to and to take the day off.It wouldn't make a difference anyway since field personnel were so far behind.
At the end of the day, everyone was ready to go home. They had a lovely supper in his dining room, and Cally always appreciated the meal. She had good manners and was always thankful for the service, too. Some people thought that everyone would be, but that wasn't always true. There were a few women that he had seen who had complained constantly, but when they had abused his servants, that's when he had sent them out the door.Tonight, there was no walk, but they sat in the living room watching a movie and snuggling. It was an enjoyable pastime for him, and he hoped it would be for her as well. The movie was a good action-adventure one, and it was what she had chosen. He wasn't against romance; he just liked the fast-moving movie that had a lot going on, and apparently, she did too.
When the movie ended, he gave her a deep, passionate kiss, and when he let her go, she whimpered, which made him smile.Yes, she was feeling it too.He was making progress, and soon she would be his. This wasn’t just a conquest; she would be his life partner. When he went to bed, all he could do was think of her and later dream about her.In the morning, he woke up just before sunrise as usual.Going to the kitchen, he got a cup of coffee.Carlos sat by the window watching the sun come up.It was an amazing sunrise with a vibrant splash of colors.Cally didn’t get up this early because she slept longer than a wolf because of leftover behavior from being human to start with. She would outgrow the need for extra sleep in time.
Breakfast was as wonderful as ever, and he watched his mate as she ate.Today would be a perfect day, and it was starting now.
“Did you enjoy your meal and the flowers?”Carlos asked.
“The meal was amazing and the flowers beautiful.”
“This is just the start of a perfect day.”
