“Your guy doesn't mess around, does he?I appreciate that in a man.I can do that.What will your people be expecting of me?What will they do if they see a little magic happening?”Harry asked.
She had a point because they all knew about paranormals, but he wasn't sure what they would do if they saw a little magic happening.
“We have a guy called Ben, and he is a vampire.His partner quit last week, and he didn't want a replacement.He might be difficult to work with because his partner wasn't keeping up, and I think that was the problem.”Carlos admitted.“I can hardly tell that the partner is done because Ben is so fast.”
“I can handle any paranormal.All I need tomorrow is his location and for him to be prepared for me.”
“Don't you want to know if he's cute?”Cally asked.
“No, I'm seeing a fireman right now, and I'm waiting to see how that'll work out.”
“I'm glad to hear you're still seeing him.”
“I've learned to make cookies for him and his guys.You know I must like him because I'm not much of a cook.”
“Ariel said that you've gotten better with the cooking.”
“I don't burn water anymore,” Harry said, and she laughed.
Carlos wondered if it was possible to really burn water.He was interested in seeing Harry at work because he’d heard so much about her.His mate had told him that Harry liked being famous because it made his enemies quake in fear and sometimes run.All he could do was agree that Harry was famous.Some called her the frog Princess, and some called her the toad Princess, but by either name, she was well known.He had a feeling that even these human racists would know who she was when she announced herself.
He wished he had been able to go with her and watch her at work, but he had already told her she would be working with Ben, and this would be the one day off that he and his mate would get after their wedding.It would make him a poor mate to go back to work at such a time.Looking at Harry, he could see why their enemies would think that she was easy to take out.She looked like a teenager and acted like one, too.That would change when the magic began to fly.His wolf whimpered.As close as Harry and Cally were, his wolf better get used to some magic.
It was time to turn his attention back to eating.There was a lot to do today to prepare for Harry, working with Ben and the ceremony tomorrow.Cally rubbed his knee and seemed to realize his concerns.Maybe it was just that Harry often brought worries with her.Not her fault, it was that the times that she was needed were often difficult ones.So far, he had to admit that he liked Harry.The little witch was sweet and funny, just like Cally had said.Something that Cally had not said was the power that he could feel coming from her.It was surprising, and someone who looked so young.
The meal was finished, and everyone dropped their dishes into the available tubs.His mate had said they wouldn't need any instructions, and they would all do it automatically.She had been right about that and doing it this way made things a little bit easier on the kitchen staff.It was true that he had brought in a couple of extra helpers for the days that guests would be here, but this would just ensure that there would be enough to get the work done.Everyone already had their rooms, and many people went to them.They weren't set up like the place the white wolf had, so there was not a great deal to do here.He supposed they would be watching TV because all the rooms had a TV.
Ariel and Blake also went to their room, but he doubted they would be watching TV if he was interpreting the hot looks going back and forth properly.He'd heard that they had a love match, and now he knew that was true.For many years, there had been few fated mate matches, but now they were becoming more common.Everyone said it was because the white wolf bloodline had been found, and the goddess was smiling at them.It was hard to argue with what was visible.If wolves did as the goddess dictated, the future would be bright.If not, bad times would return.That was something no one except the corrupt wanted.
Carlos took his mate to their room.It was obvious to him that all the excitement had worn her out.As much as he wanted to make love to her, he also wanted to care for her.They both prepared for bed, and when they turned in, he wrapped her in his arms, and they went to sleep.Tomorrow will be an exciting day, and the ceremony will be at ten a.m.When he woke, he felt anticipation.It took him a moment to remember what was going to happen today.When he did, he immediately jumped out of bed to get ready to face his day.He needed to talk to Ben and prepare him for the storm that was Harry.
There was also paperwork and some other things that he needed to do before he could dress for the ceremony.Ariel had brought some of the things for the wedding with her, and one of those was his tuxedo.He could only hope that it would fit and look good since he had not tried it on yesterday.The first thing he did was call Ben to discuss Harry joining him later in the day.
“I know her,” Ben replied.
“You'll be alright with it then?”
“Sure.Harry is a lot of fun, and she's also a good backup.I've worked with her for a while when I was at Tyne’s main office.”
“That's good to know.I can understand why you were so fast when we first got you.I thought a lot of the people he sent us were newbies.”Carlos admitted.
“Most of them were.He had to deal with what was available, and I was willing to come here because I wanted a change.”
“Tyne didn't really explain much about the personnel or give me much information.He said Moe would send it to me later.I'm still waiting.”
“Won't do you much good to ask for it.It'll come when it comes.”Ben informed.
“Have begun to pick up on that.I thought maybe they forgot to send it, but when I mentioned it, I realized that they just weren't going to send it until they wanted to.I'm sure there's a reason, I just don't know what it might be.”
“It's possible they want you to make your own decision about the people you were sent.They're giving you time to do that, and as some of them aren't working out, they'll probably be blacklisted.”
“That's a pretty serious step,” Carlos observed.
“It won't be done immediately, and they'll get a chance to show that they can do what's needed.I heard they did that with a handful of people in Alaska that just didn't work out.”
“Thanks for the information.It's a big help.”
“Cally would know that.Next time, just ask her, and I'm sure she'll let you know.”Ben observed.
