When the gate to the compound opens, I drive in and down to the clubhouse. This place is nothing like it used to be.

Everything is cleaned up. The grass is starting to look less brown and the smell is gone.

The clubhouse is fixed up and the major repairs are done. The houses that had kids living in them were fixed before the others. When all the repairs are done, we will move on to building more houses and other structures that are needed.

First, I thought this would be a temporary position, just until the club was up and running properly.

But as time goes on, I’m starting to like it here. The men respect me, and we have new members joining every week. We have more prospects than patched in members, but that's to be expected. We’re pretty much starting from scratch and they need to earn their place.

Most of Kane’s men have left, seeing that we no longer needed their help. But a few of them have stayed, joining our chapter. I made sure Kane was cool with it. The last thing I needed was him thinking I was stealing his men.

Thankfully, he was more than happy to spare the few that wanted to stay.

While I don’t trust anyone but my brothers and Rafe, I’m starting to see a good group of men being formed.

“Hey, Prez,” Rafe greets, getting up from his stool at the bar and coming over to give me a hug. “How’s it going?”

“Good,” I grunt, going over to the bar. “The usual,” I tell Mike, our bartender. He nods and makes me my Jack and Coke. “Actually, that's a lie.” I turn to Rafe. “We have a problem."

Rafe was quickly appointed our enforcer after he found out Will and I were taking over. He’s the only person I trust with the position, so it was an easy decision.

“What’s going on?” Rafe asks.

“My Omega got pulled in by the Savannah Police department,” I growl. “They took her right from the fucking street.”

“What the fuck?” he hisses.

I grab my glass and take a drink, nodding. “Something’s going on, Rafe, and I don’t like it. I don’t want to bring our personal issues into club business, but they threatened my Omega. I won’t fucking stand for it.”

“You’re family and your business is club business. We’ve got your back.” Rafe holds his head high and fuck, it feels good to have someone other than my brothers to depend on. “What do you need us to do?”

I take a moment as Marshall and Bo, Rafe’s best friends, come to his side. They’re good men. Rafe I knew and trusted, but these two I need to see for myself were just as reliable and trustworthy. So far, I like what I’ve seen. They’ve done what was asked of them with no complaints, seeming dedicated to the clubhouse changes.

“Find out everything you can on this Detective Davis. I want to know who the fuck he is and why he thinks he can come into my life and fuck with my pack,” I growl.

“You got it boss.” Rafe nods.

Nodding back, I take my drink and head back to my office. Sitting in the chair, I sigh heavily and lean back in my seat, opening up my laptop.

I bring up the camera feed and grin. My little Omega is in her room. The angle of the camera lets me see into her nest. She’s kneeling in the middle of it, surrounded by blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals.

She talks to her cat like she’s a real person, asking her where things should go. My lip twitches when the cat meows back, as if she’s actually answering her.

My girl is a little odd, a lot crazy, but she’s mine and I plan on making sure the whole fucking world knows. My bite will be on her neck as soon as I can convince her to let me to it.

Exiting out of the feed, I pull up the search engine and type in “Savannah Police Department Detective Davis.”

My brows furrow when I see the images. He’s not at all what I thought he’d look like.

He looks young, maybe late twenties, or early thirties. In the photo, he’s wearing a navy t-shirt with the station's logo on it, muscled arms crossed, littered with tattoos.

His hazel eyes look bright and happy, matching his wide-toothed smile.

His hair is light brown, longer on the top, shorter on the sides.

He doesn’t look like the average cop from around here. He looks like someone trying to prove himself.

Well, he chose the wrong fucking case to take on.
