“Yes,” he chuckles. “But you still played well.”
“Thanks.” I try really damn hard not to blush, not in here. Not with all his club brothers watching.
We head over to the bar and grab my wings and sit at one of the tables.
He sits across from me and watches.
I’m two wings in when I ask if he wants some. He shakes his head.
“You just gonna watch me then?” I ask, raising a brow as I take another bite.
He smiles just the smallest bit and it’s more rewarding than winning a game of pool would have been.
“I want to apologize.”
That has me pausing.
“For what?”
He tilts his head to the side and narrows his eyes. “You know why.”
I put my wing down and wipe my fingers. I have a feeling I know why, but I want to hear him say it. All of it.
“Could be a lot of things.” I tell him. “Could you be more specific?”
He lets out a harsh sigh and leans forward. “I’m sorry for how I reacted when I found out you were my mate. I shouldn’t havebit you without your permission, and me not having control of my own instincts isn’t an excuse. Also, I was a jerk for the things I said afterward. It was a lot to deal with at once and I didn’t handle it well.” he leans back in his seat. “And you know, for almost killing you.” he waves the last part off and I huff out a laugh.
A happy giddy feeling hits me. He has no idea how much this apology means to me. I never resented him for how it happened, but I was hurt by his reaction after.
If anything, I’m glad he marked me then because he is so prickly that I would have been worried he would never accept me enough to bite me.
“Thank you.” I tell him. “I appreciate the apology.”
He grunts, nodding his head. He’s such a caveman.
A sexy, scary caveman.
“I’d like to move past it,” he says.
“I thought we already did.” I chuckle.
“Maybe,” he murmurs. “I just want you to know that I’ve accepted this.”
“This?” I raise a brow.
“Us. Our bond. I’d like to... ah, embrace it.”
I can’t help but smile. “You wanna date me, mister big bad biker-man?”
He narrows his eyes. “Don’t go being a brat. I already have one of those and she’s a fucking handful.”
“You love it.” I chuckle.
He just rolls his eyes.
“But that’s a yes?”
He shakes his head and I deflate for a moment. “Not date. We don’t need to date, you’re already mine Tucker. The bites on our necks are proof of that. But yes, I want to get to know you better.”
