Jai

To say he was surprised when Nickolas showed up would be an understatement. His heart had started beating faster at the sight of the alpha at his door. He’d thought, albeit sadly, if the twinge in his heart was any indication, that after dismissing the driver he would never hear from Nickolas again.

The alpha looked stupidly tempting dressed as he was in all black. From the top of those dark locks to his perfect designer shoes he was perfection. And whether Jai had liked it or not, Nickolas took his breath away. He was more handsome than any one person had a right to be. It also brought to mind quite vividly the dreams he had been having, most of them featuring him riding the fat alpha cock.

But that did not mean Jai was about to make it easy for the alpha. No way. He had already made himself look easy sleeping with him the way he did. He would not be a pushover. He wasn’t sure where all the bravado was coming from, but he was going with it. Jai wouldn’t turn into some sort of plaything for the alpha. His nana would roll in her grave if he did, and he wouldn’t be able to look at himself in the mirror if that was the case.

When the alpha had let himself into Jai’s space, he was tempted to run into his arms, but he’d held his ground and was glad he did because the apology from the alpha had smoothed out some of the edges of sadness he’d been feeling. Yet when he’d said,“I want you,”Jai’s body had locked up tight, immediately. He’d felt like nothing more than a hole for the alpha to fill at that moment, and he’d wanted to be sick.

He was even gladder he held his ground when the Alpha said he’d missed Jai. He’d become a puddle of goo in his arms at that point.

He broke their heated kiss to ask again, needing reassurance after the way he’d been treated. He looked into the alpha’s eyes, and asked, “You really missed me?”

“I really missed you,” Nickolas replied, a hint of incredulity in his tone as though he was truly surprised. Jai wasn’t sure whether he was surprised he was saying it or surprised it was true. Either way, he read the truth in those beautiful alpha eyes.

“I know you probably don’t say sorry often, but thank you. It means a lot to me.” Jai added, melting into alpha’s body, breathing in the scent of fresh cut grass and a hint of mint.

The kiss had the memory of them together flashing through his mind. His alpha’s powerful body over his own, the overwhelming pleasure. Even he had to admit the sex had been fantastic. But he knew that for them to work that wasn’t all it had to be. The alpha had to see him as a person too, or it would just be a series of random hookups and not a relationship.

“So, you had plans for us?” Jai asked, happily.

“I did, but I have to admit you have successfully distracted me, I wouldn’t be opposed to a change of plans, ” Nickolas said before kissing Jai’s neck, making his channel become slicker. Who knew he was so sensitive there?

An unwelcome thought came for a moment reminding Jai how out of his league the alpha was. He dripped power and sophistication from every pore in his body. And Jai didn’t even have anything to his name. Hell, he didn’t even have a university degree to boast about. What did he have to offer a man like this?the evil voice in his head supplied.

What would happen when the alpha got tired of him? The memory of the sadness and pain he’d felt during the last two weeks flashed in his mind. What would it be like when it was over and he was tossed aside like yesterday's trash? He should just admit to himself now that they weren’t creatures of the same species and end it before it blew up in his face, his head supplied, even though his heart disagreed vehemently.

But still he heard the words, “I think we should take it slow,” come out of his mouth, then held his breath at what Nickolas’ reaction would be. He was sure the alpha would quit, thinking he was too much trouble. But… Jai had to think of what was best for him, and felt like that meant they should spend at leastsometime together that didn’t involve a bed. It was probably a lot like closing the barn door with the horse already out and bolting, but he was sure this was what was right for him. He didn’t know what he would do if the alpha decided to say“fuck it”and walked away.

“Slow,” he heard Nickolas repeat.

“Yes, slow,” Jai replied, his voice lower than it had been.

“So, what does slow entail?” Nickolas replied, his tone cautious, but he hadn’t walked out, so Jai was calling that a win.

“I don’t know maybe, some non..” Jai felt the blush come on at the thought of what he was about to say.

“Non..” Nickolas prompted him.

“Non-sex,” he whispered.

“Non-sex?” the alpha said, his tone incredulous.

“Yea,” Jai replied, “I think we should have some dates that are non-sex.”

“Oh. I thought you said we should have no sex.” Nickolas said.

Jai finally lifted his head and looked at the alpha again. “No, I meant like we should, you know, spend time, like getting to know each other. We’ve seen each other naked, and I don’t even know…” he stopped before completing his sentence.

“Yes? Go on… What don’t you know?” The alpha prompted.

“Anything,” Jai replied, a little shamefully, at the reminder that he had fallen into bed with someone who was still, in essence, a stranger to him.

He wasn’t sure who was more surprised, him or the alpha, at the words that came out the alpha’s mouth next, “Well, what would you like to know?”

“Well, okay, when is your birthday,” Jai asked, smiling.
