CHAPTER 13
“Blaaaak, Blaaaaaak.”
“Sweety are you alright?”
Gunner couldn’t answer as he continued to throw up until there was nothing left in him. The feeling of a cool cloth had him sighing. “Thanks.”
Gordy smiled, “Like we said when we found out I’m pregnant. We’re in this together.”
Gunner stood up and grabbed his toothbrush, “Yeah, but that was when I knew you were carrying the baby and I was just going to have to be a good birthing coach. Who would have thought I’d get your morning sickness.”
Gordy held back his laugh knowing it would upset his already sensitive mate. Poor Gunner had started the puking the night of the attack. It had shocked the hell out of everyone when they were filling Pit in on what had happened and all that the dead fucktard had said, when Gunner jumped from his seat and barely made it to the toilet before vomiting whatever he had in his stomach. It had been three days since then and each and every morning as well as afternoon and most evenings he was doing it again and again.
The guys were shocked as hell to discover Gordy was pregnant, and Jude and Bren were talking condoms even after their maharishi tried to calm them with how it didn’t work that way, but Gordy wasn’t sure the men gave a shit or were even willing to take the chance.
When Gordy had told them that he didn’t get pregnant having penetrative sex, Jude immediately told Casper he was cut off, which had Smoky freaking out and trying to talk to their mate.
“Do you think Jamil has my grilled pineapple with salsa ready yet?” Gunner asked as he rinsed his mouth.
“Yes, it’s why I came in here to get you.” Gordy said, thinking about the insane shit his mate always wanted to eat.
It seemed his big D.O.A. mate had not only gotten the morning sickness, but the cravings as well. As much as Gordy hated seeing his strong mate sick, it was kind of nice to know he was sharing in the pregnancy as well.
Gordy picked up Gummy Bear. It still made him feel all mushy inside when he found out that Gunner had called Pit to ask him to bring his beloved fur baby, because he had heard how sad Gordy had been about not having him with them in Texas when he had talked to Bren. It was the sweetest thing ever, and then he discovered that Gunner had sent Gio and Cobra out to pick up some pet supplies and toys for when Gummy arrived. “Are you ready to join the others?”
Gunner nodded, “Oh yeah, besides my spicy pineapple I was thinking to see if maybe I could get some bananas and grill them with some marshmallows on top.”
Gordy just shook his head and made his way down the long spiral stairway. Gordy was amazed at the size of the place they were in now. Pit had moved everyone to the large mansion they had purchased when they were staying in Texas looking for an arsonist a few years back. It seemed that was the same case that Jude and Casper came together.
Pit wanted to get Gordy away from the memories of Jamil slicing the guy’s head off and into a quiet, calm, comfortable place where everyone could relax and figure shit out. He also said that he was going to contact someone that specialized in cleaning up blood.
The second Gunner and Gordy exited into the back yard where they were having a barbecue and pool party, Pit approached them. “I got a call from Stone.”
Stone was the FBI liaison with D.O.A. and also the mate to both Lex and Solo. He had come with Pit and the others, but immediately had to leave with his mates to take the two fucktards back to Drago where they could decide what to do with them and then check into the stolen evidence Gordy had sent so long ago.
“What did he say?” Gunner asked. “Did they snag up Gordy’s parents yet?”
Shaking his head, Pit said, “He said they got one of the guys he took back to talk and that guy gave up a few names for a plea deal. They arrested four guys in Stone’s department and another three in the fraud division.”
“Well shit. Now what are we going to do? You know as well as I do that until those fuckers are all arrested and behind bars my mate is in danger.” Gunner snarled.
Nodding, Pit said, “I know. We’ll just have to get enough evidence to do that.”
“What if I have the evidence you’re looking for?” Gordy asked.
Pit looked at Gordy curiously, “I thought you said that you gave it all over to Clem?”
“I said I sent him an email and attached the evidence to it. I still have the original stuff.” Gordy replied.
“Are you serious?” Gunner gasped.
“Why in the hell didn’t you say you had it when Stone was here?” Jamil asked as he plated the spicy pineapple and bananas with melted marshmallow onto a plate and handed it to Gunner.
Gordy pursed his lips, his pregnancy quick temper coming to the surface, “Well, excuse the hell out of me. I’m so sorry I didn’t think about it as trying to get past the fact that a fucking head had fallen at my feet and rolled off the fucking roof into the fucking pool as blood spurted out of the said decapitated man’s neck like old fucking faithful!” Turning to Pit, Gordy started wiggling his finger, snarling, “And don’t you say a damn thing. You and Stone said he was going back to Drago to take those goons, see what they knew, and find the leak behind the lost evidence and maybe you could find it. How was I to know he would need the information I had already given them once, again?” Before Pit could say anything, Gordy snapped, “Exactly.”
Gordy fumbled with Gummy Bear’s collar until the bow tie snapped backwards. Inside Gordy had placed the flash drive in the bow part and in the knot was the sim card to the phone Maxine had recorded her murder on.
Waving the articles around, Gordy said, “I think we should at least make another copy for us in case Stone hasn’t finished cleaning house.”
