Nodding, Jamil began to pace the room not looking at either of them. He would stop and tap one of his claws on the floor, open his mouth and then close it again only to begin pacing once more, the feeling of fear and anxiousness coming through their bond at almost an overwhelming rate.

After about a minute or so, Gunner growled, “Jamil!”

Jamil turned and looked at them for the first time. The fear in his eyes matched the feeling running through Gordy at the moment. Slowly, Gordy stood and went to his maharishi. Gently, he took the demonic-looking face in his hands and then rubbed a tender hand over his dragon’s horn. “It’s okay, Jamil. Just talk to us and whatever it is we’ll face it together.”

Jamil’s eyes teared up as he rasped, “I didn’t mean to do it. I swear. It was an accident. I didn’t even know I was doing it until it was too late. You guys don’t understand what it’s like to be a maharishi. We don’t have actual sex with you, but we feel what you do during the act in itself. It’s on such a spiritual level for us. Take how you feel when you and Gunner are making love and multiply that by like a thousand and you might understand what I mean.”

“I don’t know what our sex life has to do with anything, but I get what you’re saying. Hell, Smoky eggs Jude and Casper into the sack every chance he gets, and Spirit was willing to lie to Pit just so Rylee wouldn’t cut Taj off.” Gunner said.

Nodding, Jamil took a deep breath in and let it out slowly, looking at Gordy. “Gunner and I got concerned when you didn’t come back outside, so we came in to find you and make sure everything was okay. We heard you on the phone… which by the way you should never have been on. You were told by Gunner not to make any phone calls.”

“I know, but I was worried about Gummy Bear. I just wanted to make sure he was okay. He suffers from separation anxiety something horrible and I was worried he’d die from a broken heart because I wasn’t there.” Gordy quickly explained.

“Maybe so, but next time you need to talk to one of us and we’ll find a way to make that call happen.” Jamil stated firmly.

Gunner cleared his throat, “As much as that needed to be said, I think it would behoove all of us if you would finish telling us what you are trying to say and stop stalling.”

Gordy urged Jamil to sit and went back to Gunner retaking his seat on his mate’s lap. “Okay, so you heard my call to Bren?”

Nodding, Jamil said, “Yes, and during your talk, Gunner had to step away. He asked me to stay where I was until he returned. While there I overheard you telling Bren about your wish for a family of your own.”

“Oh gods.”Gordy thought, then said, “I would have talked to you guys about it. I just felt it should wait until this thing with my father was over with.”

“Okay, I’m lost here.” Gunner said, looking between Jamil and Gordy.

Gordy sighed, “I was talking to Bren and I told him how I had always dreamed of having a family of my own. I wanted a bunch of kids I could run and play with, and shower with so much love… but being gay I knew I wouldn’t be able to have that, and that’s why I treat my dog, Gummy Bear, the way I do. He’s more like my baby than a pet… you know what I mean?”

Nodding, Gunner said, “Baby, I’ve never really thought about having kids or even a family, but it’s not something I’m against. When this shit with your father is over we can talk and maybe find a surrogate or even adopt.”

Shaking his head, Gordy said, “No, we can’t, Gunner. I don’t know of anyone in Drago that would be willing to have a baby for us, and how can we possibly adopt? Drago is a place that outsiders can’t get into and any parents wanting to adopt have to go through a rigorous background check as well as home visits before they can even be approved. Can you imagine a case worker coming into our home and Azul is sitting in his recliner tossing popcorn with one hand at the judges for The Voice as he scratches himself with the other? Or what about Smoky appearing out of thin air… and take away the dragons and you still have the fact that so many of you guys live in the same house together. How do we explain that? It just wouldn’t work.”

“Uh, guys.” Jamil softly said.

When Gordy and Gunner looked at him, Jamil said, “I haven’t finished with what I’m trying to tell you. Maybe you can table this discussion, because it’s a moot point anyway.”

“It isn’t a moot point, Jamil. We can find a way if this is what Gordy wants to do.” Gunner argued.

Shaking his head, Gordy said, “I don’t want to do anything unless both of you are on board because you want this kind of family too. This isn’t a ‘because my sentience’ wants it kind of thing. This is a real family we’re talking about with real tiny people that will need us and rely on us for their care.”

“Baby, I hear what you’re saying…”

“We’re already pregnant.” Jamil said.

Gunner stopped talking, and both he and Gordy looked towards the dragon. Gunner slowly asking, “What did you just say?”

Jami lowered his head and started fidgeting with his claws. “I said, we’re already pregnant.”

“How the hell are we pregnant? In case you didn’t notice, we’re all guys here.” Gunner ground out.

Shaking his head, Jamil said, “That may be, but we are not allhumanmales.”

“Explain.” Gunner growled.

Jamil sighed, saying, “There are some male reptiles that can have babies, and there are some that are hermaphrodites and can lay an egg that isn’t fertilized and it will hatch with young. I’m not saying that as a dragon I’m part reptile, but our belief is that some reptiles were brought on by dragons. The thing is, dragons are not gay or straight… we would find a suitable dragon and procreate.”

“What does this have to do with anything?” Gunner asked gruffly.

Gordy smacked Gunner’s chest, “Hush you. I’m listening and finding this conversation quite fascinating.” Turning to Jamil, Gordy said, “Go ahead, Jamil.”
