“I love her. You know how I feel about her, Celestino. We talked about it before.”
“If you really loved her, you never would’ve fucked that woman. So let’s try this again. Why the fuck are you doing this?”
“Because Moira is mine.” He shrugs.
He’s got to be crazy, right?
“You stayed away for two years. Why now?” Giacomo snaps at him.
“I tried to forget her, but I couldn’t. You don’t understand how much I love her.”
I start laughing. “Any man who says he loves a woman would never cheat on her. He would never do what you did to my Moira.”
“Your Moira?” he starts laughing. “You don’t stand a chance with her. She’d never even look at you.”
I stare at him as I decide if it’s worth getting into an argument with him. Before I can open my mouth?—
“You have two options in this situation. You either stay away from Moira, or there will be consequences that you won’t like,” Giacomo says to him.
“What are you going to do when she decides she wants to be with me? Which is what she told me today. She said she just needs to find a way to tell all of you. Because she knows how you feel about me.” He smiles at all of us.
Giacomo turns to the rest of us and nods towards the door. We all follow him out.
“He’s fucking insane.” I frown at them.
“Apparently. I don’t know what’s going on with him, but he’s definitely insane. Should we get Jérôme to admit him to the psych ward?” Francesco asks.
Jérôme Laurent is the head of the Emergency Department at Lucciola Memorial. It’s our hospital here in Lake Renegade. He and his family have a long history with the Mancini family.
“We might need to. I don’t know what else to do with him and I don’t think he’s going to leave Moira alone. We could call Salvatore and have him put a restraining order on him. Something tells me that it won’t help us, but it probably needs to be done,” Giacomo says.
Celestino nods and gets on the phone. I can hear him talking to Salvatore and then Jérôme. Salvatore Mancini is the sheriff of Lake Renegade and a part of the Chicago Mafia.
“Okay, Sal’s on his way here and Jérôme will meet us at the ER. Jérôme said they can hold him for three days without going to court,” Celestino tells us.
“That should work, hopefully they’ll see he needs help. Also, we can get a restraining order done tomorrow,” Giacomo says.
It takes Salvatore thirty minutes to come and get Zachary. And as much as I want to go with them, I know I shouldn’t. I’ve never been a violent person, but Zachary makes me want to be.
“So they admitted Zachary into the psych ward at Lucciola. They’re going to hold him for three days. I want his picture circulated to everyone. If anyone sees him, they’re to let one of the council know. That way we can send someone to take care of him.”
“I can’t believe we didn’t notice this about him when he worked with us.” Celestino frowns.
“None of us noticed anything fucked up about him. No one. So don’t start blaming yourself for this,” Francesco says to him.
Celestino squints at his twin, then rolls his eyes. “Fine then, it’s your fault. Why didn’tyousee it?”
Francesco sighs and turns to their papà.
“Salvatore said he’ll tell his deputies to keep an eye out for him too.”
“Why does this family always attract the crazies?” Luciana laughs as she walks over to us.
“They’re attracted to you,” Francesco says to her as we all laugh.
Luciana heads over to their papà and sniffles. “Franco’s being mean, Papà.”
Giacomo looks at all three of his kids. “Be nice to your sorellina.”
