“If this is your way of proposing, then no. But maybe if you ask me another time, I’ll say yes.” It was a challenge of sorts, and he knew it. The corner of his lips tilted up and a soft huff escaped his chest.

“Oh, I like you, Kat. Make him work for it.” Eleanor laughed and excused herself to go to the bathroom.

“She’s going to feed in the bathroom where people won’t notice. If you feel hungry, you should join her. She is trustworthy.” Tatsou released my hand in case I wanted to go.

My throat did ache, as I thought about the warm blood. I nodded and trailed after her, hopefully in a nonsuspicious way. Once inside the long stretch of stalls, I listened for the sounds of teeth ripping flesh combined with the scent of blood. My senses instantly pinpointed Eleanor’s location and I raced over. The unlocking click of the door suggested I was invited to join.

Eleanor grinned, barely a drop of blood on her perfect row of teeth as she watched me with glowing eyes. She pressed her mouth to the oddly calm girl’s wrist and pulled from her vein. She nodded to the other arm, and I lifted to my mouth slightly harsher than I intended. The girl shivered and I hated this part. However, my disdain and my need to stay alive were largely outmatched. Surviving reigned supreme, and I needed to get used to it. Warm, thick blood filled my mouth, and I turned into a monster. Once I felt sated, I did as Tatsou showed me by sealing the wound.

“Has Tatsou showed you how to practice compelling people?” she whispered low, but I heard her as if she said it in a normal tone.

I nodded. “He showed me but I’m not the best.”

“Look into her eyes and say what you want her to do and think with backbone. You’ve gotta mean it. No room for negotiations.” She placed the woman’s hand at her side and nudged me to give the Jedi mind tricks a try.

The middle-aged woman watched me with big, brown eyes. I told her to forget what happened and say she donated blood two days ago if asked why she was so tired. That was the easy part. I honestly feared being caught or fucking up as a vampire. With all I could muster, I used my power and her eyes stayed wide for another thirty seconds.

“I’ll keep an eye on her until we board. You did a good job. Clean yourself up and head back.” She grinned and I wondered what she meant. I glanced at the mirror to find I had blood all over my face. I couldn’t manage to be a clean monster, I had to look like I gave myself a red facial. I washed it off and while I was now void of makeup, I didn’t look suspicious.

“Okay?” Tatsou asked. His hand moved to wrap around mine.

“Besides me being a messy eater, yes.”

“You’ll get better with time.” I knew he spoke truth. If you wanted to be good at anything, you had to focus on it. Practice, practice, as my mother used to say.

The boarding for the flight started moments later, and Eleanor showed up right before we handed the attendant our tickets.

“This is going to be a blast. Tatsou on a plane.” She rubbed her hands together like an evil villain, which earned an eye roll from the vamp. We found our seats, and I gave Tatou the window so he could look at the clouds and the city as we lifted off.

“Once we land, we’ll start practicing your power. For now, I want you to think as little as possible.” Tatsou reached down to a backpack Romi had given him to carry clothes in. He refused to let his clothes go anywhere out of his sight, which I found comical. He pulled out a medium-sized sketch pad with various pictures attached to it.

“Romi took the photographs. I knew this would keep your mind busy and not make the captain live out his darkest nightmare by accident.” He grinned and handed me the pad and pencil set. Despite the bit about me killing us all with the captain, his gesture was unbelievably sweet. My fingers itched to start sketching from the inspirational pictures. Romi grabbed colors and textures of all kinds, and my whole mind lit up.

“Your spark brings me peace.”

“I’ll give you some spark,” I teased, but really his gesture swooned me. This monster beside me was everything I ever wanted and more. I heard his subtle growl, but his body remained still. He’d been patient, not asking for more than I wanted to give. Now I was ready to give him everything once again.

I sketched a dress inspired by cherry blossoms as the plane climbed higher and higher. I had half of my mind on the drawing and half on my devious plan. Once we reached height, I let the people who really needed to pee do their thing, then I made my move. I leaned over to lick the side of Tatsou’s neck and whispered for him to follow me on the count of one hundred.

It was time I initiated the vampire to the mile-high club.

Chapter Forty- Four

Katsumi

Of course, Tatsou didn’t have to wait to be discreet. No one would say anything to him, and he could compel them or eat them if they did dare.

“What are you plotting, Kitten?” I grabbed his button-up as soon as I pushed back the door and pulled him inside the cramped bathroom. Instead of answering him, I took the initiative. I jumped up and wrapped my legs around him in a second, mouth pressed to his.

“Kat.”

I caressed his lips with my tongue. “I love you, Batty Boy.” My nails lightly scratched down his muscled chest.

“You’re my beauty in nightmares.” He sucked my bottom lip into his mouth as his free hands palmed my breasts. When Tatsou called me his beauty in this nightmare of being a vampire, I felt cherished and loved.

It amazed me that he didn’t need to hold me up. My strong body did that for us. We were both free to touch each other all over. My hands quickly made work on his belt. The vamp growled, I loved when my monster turned all feral on me. Before I freed him from the confinement of his slacks, his hands wrapped under my hips as he kept me against the wall while sliding down. The sheer strength to hold me up while placing my legs over his shoulders turned me on.

His hot breath caressed my panties, and I was so glad I wore my sweater dress to the airport instead of yoga pants. Tatsou was starved for me and wasted no time in devouring his fill. I bit back every groan, every moan, and the damn vamp laughed at my struggle.
