Leonard hesitated for a few moments, but then he finally agreed and left. Broch was happy that he was going, but at the same time, he was filled with dread. Was it drink that had Leonard in a foul mood, or was it just amplifying what was already in his heart? If that was the case, that would be a little harder to fix. A lot harder actually.

Broch felt like he couldn’t enjoy the party either. Leonard’s words were ringing in his ear, Christin was out upstairs, her son and her parents were worried sick. He had a lot going on, dragons mixing with wolves. There were more than a few with quick tempers, so Broch felt like he had to stay and make sure that no one got into it. He knew that it could quickly dissolve into dragons vs. wolves, and he didn’t want any more bad blood between the two.

He had been thinking long and hard about the alliance and Broch wanted to go forward with it. He hoped that their win today would push some more to agree, yet the voice of dissent was always just undercutting every other conversation. Broch could already hear whispers, coming all the way from the top.

He left the party not too long after that, done with the party and the people. Broch knew that Christin wasn’t awake, so he didn’t even want to tempt himself with her. He walked around for a while, until all of the adrenaline was gone, leaving him tired and confused about what to do next. He thought peace could be brokered. They were different, but they were shifters, so Broch didn’t see what the harm of it all was. He knew that there could be great advantages. However, if he couldn’t get his own second to agree to the peace, how was he going to expect it from anybody else?

Broch knew the answer, even if he didn’t want to admit it. Whether he liked it or not, Broch was going to have to do some convincing. He wasn’t going to do it that evening though. Everyone was drunk, passed out or fucking. He would like to be doing the latter, badly in fact, but he went to bed, knowing full well that he was going to have to settle for sleep. He laid next to her body, on the outside of the sheets. He was asleep in minutes, even though his mind was still going too fast to process.

Chapter 29

Christin

Christin woke up and she was at once aware of the large man lying next to her. Christin didn’t have to see his face to know that it was Broch. She was trying hard to focus her attention on him, but it was hard. She was focused on desires that were left from before, yet Broch wasn’t ready for that sort of thing. He was asleep, fast asleep by the sound of it.

She got brave after a time and propped herself up on her arm. Christin liked watching him sleep, liked the fact that he didn’t know what she was doing, and she had a bit of anonymity. Christin knew that no matter what happened, she was always going to have so much to thank him for. She had been saved by him twice, her life in his hands both times, and neither time had he used it to his advantage. He had been the perfect gentleman, even if that wasn’t entirely what she wanted at all.

The same buzzing that had been in her body before was working against her right then. Broch was sleeping sound, snoring lightly, even as her hand moved softly over his chest. She heard him moan softly and then he said her name in his sleepy voice. That word made her come alive, her body sure that he knew what was coming next.

Christin was shaking as she rubbed her hand up and down his chest. It was all so different than she imagined. A part of her wanted to do more, just so that she would be sure that he was real and none of it was a dream. She was dying inside for a part of him, though it was impossible to know where to start.

After a little bit of thought, Christin decided that she was just going to go for it. She started to rub herself up against Broch. He was asleep, but restless and the more she touched him, the more he seemed to come to life. He was on his back when she started, but soon he was on his side, moving his hands on her, pulling her closer.

The next thing she knew, Broch was kissing the side of her neck and then her lips. Christin was lost in the moment and before she could really think it through, she was rubbing herself against him and kissing him with fervor. Somewhere in the midst of it all, Broch woke up and the fire in his kiss multiplied tenfold. Christin was overwhelmed by his touches, and she was whimpering with need. She didn’t want to wait any longer and she was afraid that Broch would be pulled away from her again. She couldn’t stand even the idea of it.

“Why are you naked?”

Christin didn’t answer, even if she would have been given a chance. She was pressed into the mattress, as Broch took over and covered her with his own body. She sank into the soft blankets, and her legs were wedged apart by his knee. He wasn’t even fully awake, but within seconds, she felt moments from being touched and teased in the way that she needed most. He was still in most of his clothes, which he didn’t realize, until he started to thrust forward and didn’t get anywhere.

It made him growl and then he was up and off of her, standing at the edge of the bed, ripping off his clothes in a flurry. Christin giggled from the look of determination on his face. He was frustrated with his pants that wouldn’t come off fast enough, but then he was back and surging forward.

Christin cried out in pleasure and pain. It had been so long that she wasn’t used to any man, let alone Broch, who was well-endowed and too thick from the feel of it. He was stretching her so much that she felt like she was ripping. Broch paused, looking down at her and wondering what it was that he was feeling. She was whining and moving her hips. It was clear she was uncomfortable.

“You have a kid.”

Christin agreed and chuckled, even as she winced as he throbbed inside of her. “Like I said, it’s been a long time.”

Broch gritted his teeth and Christin held onto his neck. She beckoned him forward, begging him to give them what they both wanted. She was expecting an orgasm like before, when he was touching her. That wasn’t what she got that time. Instead, she got a full body orgasm that sent her to the highest reaches possible. Christin was calling out and begging for more in the same breath. For once in her life, it felt right, and she was complete.

He slowed down to let her catch her breath, before catapulting her right back into it. Christin was feeling so damn good, and it was almost as if everything that had happened was pushed away. All of the years that she had spent alone and unloved was all so she could appreciate his love like she was supposed to. It was enough for Christin to realize that she had been waiting all this time for Broch and didn’t know it. She would have never imagined it would be a wolf that made her feel the way she did. It was magic. It was that simple.

Christin was satisfied and finally, like on cue, Broch filled her with his seed and released her from his tight grip. Broch laid down next to her and sighed loudly.

“Damn, I really needed that.”

Christin agreed, but she wasn’t even paying attention to what he was actually saying. She was grinning to herself like an idiot.

“Yeah.”

“Did it hurt? It felt like you were a virgin.”

She chuckled. “Bit late on that one, Broch. I have a ten-year-old. Where is William anyway?”

Christin remembered her quest to find him in one rush and she started to jump up. “He is down the hall. He is fine, Christin. We got him out before it came down and all the chaos even started.”

Christin thanked him. “Good. Good.”

Broch hugged her to him. “I know you are going to go, but can you lay here with me for just a moment? I didn’t think I was ever going to see you again, Christin. I was so afraid that was going to be the case. I don’t know what I would do without you.”
