I slammed my fist into the door, knocking as loud as I could in hopes of being heard over the thrumming base inside.
But no one answered. No one could hear me.
“What’s the matter, baby? You don’t want to keep us company? You shouldn’t have come out into the dark alone if you didn’t want to deal with what plays in the shadows outside,” the biggest of the trio snickered, leering at me with bloodshot eyes and teeth as yellow asMountain Dew.
Gross.
The others cackled. Their expressions twisted into cruel smiles. They reminded me of a pack of hyenas.
“Especially dressed like that,” one of the thugs said, licking his lips.
“Get the fuck away from me!” I snarled, backing deeper into the ally. I looked around for a place to run, and my heart sank deeper.
Dead end.
These creeps were blocking my only way out.
