Gray looks over at me with a frown. “Why?”

“Just – stop the truck.”

I’m opening my door before Gray can brake completely, ignoring his curses as I jump out. For once, I’m trusting my instincts, and it’s telling me that we’ve just driven in the wrong fucking direction.

Our Soul Bonded is in that building. I’m certain of it.

The others catch up to me as I stride forward, all of us falling into the familiar line as I lead us back to the small bar. The beta appears back at the door as we approach. His thinly-veiled civil demeanor falls away as he takes in our faces, replaced by a scowl.

“I told you,” he says casually, leaning against the doorway. His nonchalant pose doesn’t fool me. I can see the tension lining his shoulders, the set of his jaw.

The tugging at my chest is becoming more insistent, a driving force that pushes me forward until we stand toe to toe.

“I know she’s in there,” I say firmly. “And I will go through you if I have to. But you will not stop me from getting to my mate. Move.”

When he doesn’t budge, a growl ripples out of Jax as he comes to stand beside me, both of us united. “Do as he says, little beta. We’re not fucking around here.”

The male shifts on his feet, spreading his legs a little wider. He’s not moving.

“She’s ill,” I say quietly, watching his face. He tries to stop it, but I catch the flicker of awareness in his eyes, and my gut clenches.

Sienna.

“We can help her. We’re the only ones that can.”

A hand curls over his shoulder, and he jerks his head back. When he turns back to us, there’s something else on his face.

Amusement.

My confusion lasts as long as it takes for him to shift to the side, and a tiny ball of absolute fury comes darting out, crashing into Jax.

“Jesus wept.” He drops to his knees, cupping his balls. “She got me!”

“I will fucking kill you,” the omega snarls. Not our omega, but I recognize her, relief and shock sinking in and lightening my muscles as she turns to face me, even as I see the anger on her face.

If Jessalyn is here, then that means—

“Sienna,” I say urgently. “Where is she, Jessalyn?”

Jessalyn stares at me, her bronze curls just as wild as they were the day I saw her at our Bonding Ceremony as she moves towards me, her finger jabbing with every word.

“You,” she hisses. “You son of a goddamned bitch. What the fuck are you doing here?”

I catch her fist in my hand as it flies towards me, and for the first time, true menace enters the beta’s face as he takes a step forward. “Get your fucking hands off her, now.”

Dropping it, I hold up my hands, as much an apology as it is to ward Jessalyn off. She vibrates with fury as she looks around at us. Gray and Logan have closed in behind us, Jax staggering to his feet with a groan.

“Oh, shut up,” she snaps, rolling her eyes. “A little punch in the babymakers is nothing compared to what you’ve put Sienna through, you little weasel. Take it like a damned alpha.”

“Enough.” I’m done being patient. “Where is Sienna, Jessalyn?”

She scoffs. “Like I’d tell you. What – you didn’t finish the job? Here to stick the knife in a little more, really twist it? She gets the fucking message, asshole. Now crawl back into your little hole and stay away from here.”

Crossing my arms, I resist the urge to bare my teeth. “We’re not going anywhere. You tell Sienna that. We’re here to explain.”

“I don’t want your apologies.”

Every one of us freezes at the quiet, steady voice that sounds from behind Jessalyn. I catch the worry on the omega’s face as she spins around, and my stomach drops as I catch her hurriedly whispered words.
