That night while he stayed over, she rode him passionately. It was beautiful to be on top of him, to kiss his nipples, massage his chest, andthrow her head back as he taught her exactly how to move her hips that felt so good to him.

The cold night sang with the empty branches swaying in the trees. She was cradled by him, snuggled up. Caleb randomly shot up and freaked out. “Evie, I wasn’t wearing a condom at any time we had sex!”

Without opening her eyes, she reached into her purse on her nightstand and lifted up her birth control pills, shaking them in play with a smile.

He laughed loudly. “Oh, thank God! Are you always on birth control?”

She rolled over. “I got on it the first time we almost had sex. I went straight to the doctor.”

“And you kept taking it even after I blew you off?”

She thought quietly and lovingly looked at him. “A girl can dream, right?”

Evie quickly texted Sarah and told her that she was home, and that caring for Teddy was no longer needed.

The next morning, Caleb helped her haul her trash bags down to the yard and was kind enough to help with her dishes and finally fix that stupid cupboard door. While they listened to the local rock radio station, he taught her exactly how to fix it, and it dawned on her that it actually wasn’t that hard. He was a great teacher. Occasionally, they would exchange warm smiles, and once she even playfully poked his butt with the screwdriver. It was alright though. He got her back by spraying her with the sink attachment and smacking her ass. The whole morning was nothing but fun, laughter, kissing, hugs. All the things he had missed out on for so long.

It was all the way she got him to laugh.

He realized how spoiled he was getting with her. That weekend he had stayed every night. The morning hugs, the soft kisses, asking how he slept, getting the best back and scalp scratches ever, the kisses planted all over his body, the food she cooked for him. Everything. But it was now time to turn back to his work, and so he left her that morning and promised that after the week, he would come back and see her. She waved him off as he walked to his truck, and he took off down thedriveway.

Suddenly he slammed on his brakes before the end when that damn Alan Moffet tore down the road, swerved up into her driveway a bit, and knocked Evie’s mailbox right over!

At once, Evie ran as hard as she could down the long driveway calling his name and almost slipped on thin ice. “Caleb! Are you alright?”

Caleb got out of the truck and looked at her box. “Yeah, I’m fine, but damn!” he scorned as he tried to lift up the post. It was ruined and fell back over. “Don’t worry. I’ll come by this weekend and fix it.”

As Caleb picked up her mail, Sarah called out as she rushed across the road. “Caleb! Oh my God, are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine. The mailbox ain’t.”

Sarah said with her hands in her hair, “It doesn’t matter. As long as you’re okay! Evie, are you alright?”

Evie wrapped her pink robe around her a bit more. Not that she was naked underneath, just cold. “I’m shaken up but okay. I’m glad he has good reflexes! With that person stalking me and now this, I probably should get a ring camera.”

Sarah gasped, “Someone’s stalking you?”

“Yeah,” Caleb answered dryly again, putting the post and box in the bed of his truck so that it didn’t get further damage. “She doesn’t know who, but someone is.”

Sarah said, “I have a ring camera. I’ll take a look back at the house.”

“Thank you, Sarah. That means a lot. I’ve been meaning to get one, but I keep forgetting.”

Caleb hugged Evie quickly as not to cause any weird vibes, as Sarah was staring at them intensely. He said to Evie casually, “Be safe. I’ll be back this weekend to fix your basement.”

“Thanks, Caleb! And take care!”

When Caleb left and headed right, Sarah took a long hard stare at Evie. Evie shrugged. “What are you looking at? He literally hugged me.”

Sarah folded her arms and gave her a look. “Evie, you know he’s in the middle of a divorce, and the whole town knows he’s the most sought-after eligible bachelor now.”

Evie retorted, “That’s funny, because I thought everyone hated him. How can he besodesired yet so hated at the same time?”

Sarah kept her arms crossed. “Seems like you’re not denying it now.”

“I’m simply responding to what you said, Sarah. There’s nothing going on between he and I.” Evie was completely trapped. Caleb had told her that he didn’t want to wait for her anymore, but she also still didn’t want to gamble their secret, either. She had to somehow try to keep it contained as best as she could, but she was losing that battle more and more everyday.

Sarah approached and put her hand on Evie’s shoulder and raised her brows, trying to care. “Evie, I don’t want you getting hurt. Ashley is on a warpath right now because of him being around you. You told me that everyone’s talking about it, and I saw the comments on your Facebook page.”
