“Trust me. You’ve been a full gentleman tonight.” I winked at him, and Law started our dance over. We stayed there, dancing in eternal circles, and I never wanted to leave his side.
“Can I ask you a question?” Law broke our trance.
“Sure.” I made sure to look him in the eyes when he asked me.
“Can this be our Pase Da Doo?”
I laughed at Law’s mispronunciation of the French words.
“And by that, I mean that laugh right there, us sharing a kiss and nothing else in the world mattering.”
I stared into Law’s eyes, trying to decide if what he was saying was real. How anything that happened from yesterday afternoon to today could possibly be real. It was, though, and I think that’s what scared me the most. But it didn’t matter, because I leaped.
I had leaped right into Law’s arms and never wanted to let go.
It didn’t matter what my head was saying at this moment, because it was my heart that was saying my response.
“Only if I get to dance like this each time,” I shot back at him, looking down at where my bare feet were standing on top of his shoes.
“Deal.” His final answer was quick and filled with enthusiasm I couldn’t discredit.
“All right then, Law”—I looked back up to meet his eyes—“this can be our Pas De Deux.”
