Music is Healing – Florida Georgia Line

“Thanks,”ItellPerrin, who gives me a sunny smile and a pastry as I relax into my seat for Wednesday morning coffee with Bishop, Perrin, and Theo. Perrin’s dog, Farrow, even seems to smile.

Baylor and I have been back from LA for a few weeks, and it has been surprisingly easy to get into a routine of living together. I mean, technically we were already living together, but now that the words are out there, it feels different. And, I have to say that waking up to the weight of Baylor beside me in bed is infinitely preferable to having to just imagine it out of thin air.

This is not my first Wednesday morning meet-up, and I may almost be getting into my groove around the men that have captured the hearts of Baylor’s brothers.

I love the sense of community they have as a family. It’s not that I don’t understand what enticed my own parents to the communal lifestyle.

Theo nudges a plate nearer to me, his lean wrist wrapped in leather bracelets. He looks like a better rockstar than me in his tight jeans, tee, and boots, even with an apron over the whole thing. I’m dressed almost the same, minus the apron.

“What’s happening with everyone this week?” Theo asks, stretching his legs under the table.

“I give my last final tomorrow,” Bishop says. “Nothing left but tears and the grading.”

“And then to Greece with Quinn?” Perrin asks.

Bishop smiles. “And then to Greece. For an entire week.”

Bishop turns to me, “So, what’s next for you? Concert tonight.”

“Red Rocks can’t be beat,” Perrin says with a sigh. “We’ve gone out there for weekend yoga, movies, concerts, you name it. I can’t wait to hear you play it.”

“I’ve seen pictures,” I say, “but yeah, this is my first time playing there.” It is, of course, part of the continuing angle to revamp my image. An extra concert just announced as appreciation to the Denver area for hosting us as we film and it’s for a good cause.

Bish pats his stomach. “One of the few places you can bring your own food in still, I hear Matt has outdone himself planning this.”

Theo smiles a dreamy smile. “He really has, it’s going to be a great night.”

I love their enthusiasm. “Just make sure Piper and Liam have a good time, and don’t forget Baylor.” I remind them.

He’s going to be waiting on me tonight after this concert, and that has me as excited as the show itself. I’ve never had someone waiting in the wings.

“How’s balancing the publicity going?” Bish asks.

I sort through the pastry and make my selections.

“Not bad. Now that I am all moved in here, it’s not in our faces all the time. Thanks to showing up in LA together and going to the set together, the rumor mill is doing its thing.”

“Are you going to do an interview or anything like that?Heartbreak King’s Lover Tells All,” Theo teases, moving his hand through the air like he is setting out a headline.

“Baylor’s actually up next for that. He’s going to interview withVIP.” I had to talk Baylor into that one. Sure, they ran a story about the overdose that wasn’t, but so did everyone else. They are better than most and we need something more gossipy and less serious. If it was one of those serious, sit-down type interviews we would have to answer questions that are a hard pass.

Perrin chuckles. “Colorado’s most eligible bachelor tells all?”

“Ugh,” I groan, the knock to my gut when I think of those stories is a sharp one. “I forgot about that being the same online magazine.”

Theo waives it off. “They are always pretty kind about the family. A little intrusive sometimes, but I bet they stick to whatever the talking points are.”

“Well, our relationship isn’t one of them. Baylor’s got a few throw-away lines, things people can read into as they want, but it’s not going to be confirming or denying anything. It’s really about the album.”

“What’s next, then?” Bishop asks. “How are the songs coming?”

I smile. “It’s done, actually. I think we will tweak a few things, but all the bones are there. It’s been approved by the studio.” I turn to Perrin. “How’s the baby cooking?”

Perrin smiles, and Farrow gives a little huff from her position in his lap so he scratches her ears. “All check-ups are going well. Jack insisted on wasting no time, so the nursery is ready. Hopefullywe’reready when the time comes.”

He pulls his phone from his pocket, and even though all the pictures they have are black and white fuzzy blobs, we are all going to look at them anyway.
