“Right.”

“Good luck.”

I frowned. The open call was almost a week away. We’d talk before then. Wouldn’t we? I rubbed my chest as it became painfully tight.

“Dillon.”

“Yeah?”

“No matter what I feel for Xander, you’re still my best friend. You always will be. I’ll always love you.”

“Take care of each other,” Dillon mumbled.

The phone went dead.

I stared at it and then looked into Xander’s eyes. “I’m not sure how that went.”

“Nor am I.”

“Is he mad?”

“I think he’s in shock,” Xander said after a few moments. “He’ll come around.”

“Are you sure?”

“I’m hopeful.”

I nodded. I could be hopeful too.

“Do you still want to move into my room, or do you want to wait?”

“I don’t want to wait.” I took a deep breath. “Moving into your room would be like a trial run, wouldn’t it?”

“I guess so.”

“Do you still want that?”

“Of course I do.” Xander pulled me onto his lap and stroked my face. “Dillon will come around. We need to give him some space. But we don’t need to put things on hold while he wraps his head around the concept of us.”

“I know.”

He clasped his hands at the small of my back. “Let’s get your things together and move you into my room right now.”

I raised my eyebrows. “You don’t move slowly, do you?”

Xander’s brow furrowed. “Am I moving too fast?”

“No.” I kissed him. “Well, I don’t think you are. I don’t know. I don’t have a manual for ‘how to be in a relationship with an awesome guy’.”

“Whoever was supposed to be writing all those manuals should get sacked.”

I laughed. “They had one job.”

“Right? Total fail. I need manuals.”

I kissed him again, capturing his tongue as he slid it into my mouth. I didn’t need a manual to know how much I adored Xander. He pulled my chest to his. We wrapped our arms around each other, deepening our kiss. It would have been easy to lose myself in him so I didn’t have to think about Dillon, but that wouldn’t have been fair.

I put my hand on his chest and broke the kiss. “Let’s move my things into your room.”
