Disney cartoons, drunkenly singing along together cuddled up on the couch. Snod was sure his heart
was going to explode from being so full.
This was exactly the evening he’d wanted, and it was perfect.
“I don’t have to work tomorrow,” Frankie said as the credits ofAladdinwere rolling, “but I am going
over to the lab. Lorenzo has a prototype ready now, and we have a chance to run a few experiments.”
Snod shifted his arm around Frankie’s shoulders, drawing him in closer, asking, “For the robot cure?”
“Yes,” Frankie laughed. He waited, adding carefully, “I wanted to know if you’d come with me.”
“What for?”
“To help,” Frankie explained. “Even though you’re not a vampire, you must carry some form of the
disease. Perhaps it’s dormant or something. I don’t know. We’ve never been able to work with blood
from someone bonded before, only from other vampires. I’d like to just run a few tests if you’d be
willing.”
“I don’t mind,” Snod said, his fingers absently trailing along Frankie’s bicep. “I want to help.”
“Thank you,” Frankie said with a warm and happy smile, leaning into Snod’s touch.
“You didn’t come to karaoke this week,” Snod suddenly realized, frowning. “Why?”
“I didn’t want to distract you,” Frankie teased. “Seriously though, I was busy helping Lorenzo finish
up the antibiotic formula for prototype. That’s part of what we’re going to do tomorrow. Despite your
über stalky stalk perception, I really don’t always go every Thursday. I’ll come next week.”
“And distract me?” Snod asked hopefully.
“Probably,” Frankie chuckled, leaning in close to Snod and hugging his side. The movie was over, but
neither one of them had made any effort to move. “Mmm. We need to go to bed.”
“I’m perfectly content right here,” Snod argued. This was the most physical contact they’d had all
week. He wasn’t ready for it to end.
“You actually need to sleep if you’re coming with me to the lab,” Frankie scolded.
Snod pouted, but he had no choice except to let Frankie go as he pulled away. He missed his touch
immediately, but got up to get ready for bed. He waited for Frankie to reach for him first, firmly
holding his waist and pulling him in as they kissed.
Frankie wove his fingers over Snod’s scalp, humming happily and swaying a little from drinking so
much. He was all smiles as he said, “Tonight was amazing. And I really do love the desk. Thank you.”
“Anytime.”
