Kaleb:You’re messing with me, aren’t you?

Myla laughed as she typed:Yes.

Kaleb:That was mean.

Myla:Well, you are being pretty bossy.

Kaleb:All right.Would you like to go out with me?

Myla:Yes, please.

Kaleb:You’re going to be a troublemaker.Aren’t you?

Myla:I don’t believe so.

Kaleb:Just remember I have handcuffs and a badge.

Myla:That sounds wonderful.

Kaleb:Lord, woman.I’ll see you tomorrow night.

Myla:Okay.Night.

Kaleb:Good night, Baby.

She plugged her phone in and lay down under her covers. She couldn’t seem to get the smile off her face.It had been so long since she’d felt anything for the opposite sex. She’d had a few dates with men over the years after the attack, but they didn’t last past the first date.

She enjoyed the hum of arousal he brought to her. After they’d gotten over the initial uncomfortable meeting, she had to fight herself from climbing onto his lap.She desperately wanted to feel safe, even if only for a little while, and couldn’t think of any other man she’d ever felt that level of safety with.

If she believed in soulmates, she would think she and Kaleb were it.The chemistry was instantaneous and intense and something she’d never felt before. He was everything that attracted her to a man.Although he was larger than most men, she still had no fear of him.

He would frown if she ever told him he had a gentle soul, but with some men, it was just part of them. The fact that he was dominant and protective made it impossible for her ever to forget him.You don’t find men like him very often. The only other men she’d ever met like that were her father and Joel, the detective.

Chapter Four

It seemed he waitedforever for Saturday night.Myla was never far from his mind all day, and he finally relaxed when he heard her voice.
