I shook my head.
“At least Zeph had a good birthday,” I muttered.
“Oh yeah. He definitely did.” Willow said, wiggling her eyebrows.
Skye’s laugh turned into a gag, and then she coughed, leaning over as if she was actually about to throw up.
“You needto block the left side better,” Zephyr said, then sent a slow jab toward my kidney. “See? That was completely open.”
I nodded, adjusting my stance. Zephyr threw the jab faster this time, and I was able to dodge it.
I smiled, but Zephyr shook his head.
“Block, Aiden, not dodge.”
I groaned.
We’d been doing this for over an hour now. Zephyr insisted Ineeded to learn to fight hand to hand a little better since I couldn’t always count on my affinities. He’d made the comment once during break, then decided today was the day to practice.
It sucked.
I would’ve much rather been here with Skye in some sexy little shorts like what she’d worn for our workout this morning. She’d left to take Willow and Mia back to the academy, and part of me hoped she was getting more details from the night before. I was more than a little curious to hear how Zephyr had managed to turn Mia. The chick was an ice queen if I’d ever seen one.
Zephyr was in a fantastic mood. He didn’t mention anything about how his night had gone, so I didn’t bring it up. I wouldn’t have known anything happened if we hadn’t run into Willow this morning, anyway.
It made me wonder if Willow would have even told Skye about it if we hadn’t caught her. The two girls were very close, but…fucking your friend’s brother had to be weird.
Come to think of it…Skye would probably fuck Wyatt one day. So both girls would be fucking each other’s brothers.
I shivered involuntarily.
Biology was fucking weird.
I rolled my neck. It’d been tight since this morning. I was pretty sure I’d pulled something when Skye dominated me. My skin grew a little hot at the memory while I made a mental note to stretch next time she wanted to edge me.
“You okay?” Zephyr asked.
I jumped, then nodded. “Just a little tight.”
“I’ll fix it in a bit if it’s still bothering you,” Zephyr offered.
The gym door opened then, and Rafe and Wyatt filed in. Zephyr let out a long, insufferable sigh, and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Morning, friends.” Rafe said brightly, moving to the countertop where the athletic tape was sitting. “Are we sparring?”
“Zephyr’s helping me not be a wimp,” I said.
“Oh, my God. You were never a wimp, you just need a little instruction.” Zephyr said, exasperated. I only grinned.
“We could help,” Wyatt said. “We’re officially trained, of course.”
“I’m no street fighter,” Zephyr said defensively, because he wasdetermined to make Wyatt a bad guy by any means necessary. It was starting to bother me lately. I appreciated Zephyr’s loyalty, but my problems with Wyatt were mine, and I wanted to figure out how to handle him on my own. Especially since Skye was ready to forgive him.
I rolled my neck for the twentieth time. Wyatt smacked a hand on the back of my neck, making me jolt as the warmth of his healing affinity spread through me. The pain in my knuckles faded quickly before Wyatt let go.
“Dick,” I muttered.
“Oh, what the hell?” Zephyr called out. “I was going to do that.”
