“Very,” he agreed.
“I want to make you feel even better,” Adam continued, the words hot and wet in Cooper’s ear. “Let me make you dinner tonight.”
“I have plans,” he managed.
Adam tensed and stilled, but it was almost like he caught himself before he could say something Cooper would have found offensive.
“Oh?”
“I have to finish that flogger I was working on before you came over on Friday.”
“Do you have to?” Adam asked.
“I want to,” he said.
“Is it a sale?”
“It’s for me,” Cooper answered, giving Adam a small push away. “And it could be for you if you’re good and let me finish it.”
“To use on you, or for you to use on me?” Adam dropped his forehead against Cooper’s shoulder with a soft sound that Cooper couldn’t quite decipher.
“Both, if you’re lucky.”
“Let me cook for you then,” Adam tried again. “I’ll cook while you work.”
“Are you offering to serve me, Adam?” He turned to the side and pressed a kiss against Adam’s hair.
“I’m offering to make you dinner while you play,” Adam said again. “Is that serving?”
“It could be.”
“Alright.” Adam rolled his head to the side and kissed Cooper’s neck again, knowing it was a surefire way to get what he wanted. “Then tonight, I’ll serve you.”
Chapter9
Adam
Adam stopped at the store and picked up what he needed to make pork chops and managed to make it to Cooper’s house before seven. Cooper greeted him with a kiss and a smile before ushering him into the kitchen.
“You know your way around,” Cooper said. “I’ll be downstairs.”
“You don’t want to keep me company?”
Cooper sighed. “I told you I had work I needed to do, Adam. I thought we agreed. You said you would serve. So…”
“You’re right.” Adam stared down at the counter, the pork chop package still in his hand. “I’m sorry. I’m just…”
What he wanted to say was that he was getting used to the idea of the whole thing with Cooper again. He wanted to say he was trying his best, but it felt weird and wrong sometimes and oh so right the others.
“It’s okay.” Cooper closed the space between them and tipped Adam’s chin down so their mouths were close. “It’s new. Let me know when dinner is ready and I’ll come up, okay?”
Cooper kissed him in lieu of waiting for a reply, then went downstairs into the basement. He left the door open, which Adam appreciated even though he pretty much hated being left alone. It was borderline degrading, and he couldn’t remember a time he’d left Cooper on his own to cook. Or to do anything, for that matter. But he would take it as a challenge and do his best.
Adam set to preparing everything for the meal, getting potatoes in the oven to roast and seasoning the pork chops. Once everything was cooking, he took the time to set the table and pour them both glasses of wine. There weren’t candles, but that seemed a little over the top anyway. It was just dinner.
Just a chance to spend some time together and see where the night went.
He waited until he’d plated everything and set it all down on the table before sticking his head down the stairs and calling for Cooper.
