I laugh. “And when will that be?”

He shrugs. “When we’re ready.”

“You’re that confident this is going to work?”

Patrick cocks an eyebrow. “Between us? We’re forever, babe.”

I stand and pick up my plate. “Well until that happens, how about I take care of this while you order a pizza?”

“I can clean up.”

“No, I’ll sort this out. You did your best, and I appreciate it.”

As I make my way around the table to collect his plate, he grabs me by the hips and pulls me onto his lap. “You’re a good girlfriend. The best.”

“I hope so.” I lean my head against his before standing again and picking up his plate.

With it only being the two of us, it doesn’t take long to scrape the plates into the bin and place them in the dishwasher.

“Pizza will be here in about twenty minutes.”

I slide my arms around his neck. “Thank you.”

“For what? I haven’t even managed to feed you yet.”

I laugh. “For being you. For trying. I bet you never did this for anyone else before.”

He places his hands on my hips. “I never wanted to before.”

I sigh as he kisses me, and then I’m lost in the man I love. Closing my eyes, I let out a moan as he deepens the kiss, histongue dancing with mine as his hands slip around to cup my arse.

When he lets me up for air, he presses his forehead to mine. “How am I supposed to wait through dinner after that?”

He tugs me closer, and my heart speeds up, feeling him hard against me.

“I …”

“It’s okay. Give me a minute.” He drops his lips to below my ear and places a gentle kiss there. “I need to calm down and wait.”

“I’ll go and sit on the couch.”

“That would probably be a good idea.”

I pop a kiss on his nose. “I’ll give you a minute.”

Chills run through me as I make my way to the couch. Idid that to Patrick? I’d suspected it at times during heavy make-out sessions, but he’s been such a gentleman he’s never pushed, and I’m probably a bit oblivious to these things, never having had a boyfriend before.

A few minutes later, he joins me on the couch but keeps a bit of distance between us. I get it. The last thing he needs when opening the door to the pizza delivery is an erection.

Besides, I think he’s a little embarrassed.

Maybe we are having sex tonight, but if he’s anything like me he won’t want to talk about it until we’re in his bedroom. I don’t have the confidence to speak up.

A knock on the front door makes us both jump.

He laughs. “This is so awkward and I’m sorry. We can just eat the pizza and call it a night if you want. Maybe watch a movie?”

“That’s not what I want.”
