“Mum said you’re seeing Sean again tomorrow night.”

“Did she?”

His grin is back in full force now the focus is on me. “Yep.”

“Is this something she actually told you or something you overheard again?”

He blushes and shrugs. “She’s loud when she’s on the phone to Char.”

“Doesn’t mean you have to listen. Eavesdropping is a violation of privacy, you know. You might hear something you really don’t want to.”

That wipes the grin off his face. “Ugh. Gross.”

“Anyway,” I say, getting the conversation back on track because now I’m wondering if he brought up me and Sean for a reason. “Are you okay with me seeing him again?”

“Yeah.” He studies his socks. “It’s good.”

I think we’ve probably reached the limit of sharing for one night, and I don’t want Joe to regret talking to me, so I pat him on the shoulder. “Right, well, I’ve got to be up early to get some work done. I’ll wake you about ten for breakfast. That okay?”

He visibly relaxes, finally looking at me again. “Yeah. Night, Dad.”

“Night.”

As soon as I’m in bed with the light off and the door shut, I grab my phone and open my message thread with Sean.

We’ve been texting on and off since I saw him on Tuesday evening.

I hadn’t realised how much I’ve missed this, missed having someone to talk to at the end of the day, knowing they’re waiting to hear from me. I’m already smiling as I read the last message Sean sent.

Sean: Hey, how was your evening?

I’d rather see his face but I daren’t risk a FaceTime call with Joe next door. He clearly has excellent hearing and I’d rather not traumatise him.

Vic: Great actually. Even if Joe did laugh at my gaming skills. Or lack of.

Sean:What were you playing?

Vic:FIFA. Apparently my ball control is lacking.

It takes a second for me to realise what I’ve typed, but I’ve already pressed Send.

Sean: I think you’ve got great ball control.

I smother my laughter with my hand.

Vic:Is that so?

Sean:Yep. In fact I’m looking forward to seeing it again tomorrow night.

Just the thought of having him here, in my bed, sends a lick of heat straight to my cock. But I’m not going down that rabbit hole with Joe right next door.

Vic: As much as I’d love to see where this is going, I can’t do that with my house guest in the spare room. Save all your dirty talk for tomorrow night.

Sean:You like my filthy mouth?

Vic:Yes, but not right now.

Fuck, I was already starting to get hard just imagining him whispering dirty things as he fucked me.
