Mason pulled his head back and moved even closer to Chase, who couldn’t fight him. Who couldn’t look away from Mason’s beautiful eyes. Who felt like his feet were stuck to the floor because everything in him just wanted to make that moment be real, to let it be them forever.
“I want to be with you. I want to love you for the rest of my life, and nothing about what I felt back when we were kids has changed for me. If anything, it’s only become stronger.”
“I might really fuck things up.”
“And I might laugh at you while you do. I know why you’re scared. I’m scared, too, but let’s be scared together.”
And Chase couldn’t deny Mason anymore. He kissed him, wrapping his arms around him and holding him so close. Their kisses felt deeper and more meaningful than any of those they’d shared when they were younger or even over the past few months. They felt so life-giving, so intense. And Chase lost track of concern and worry. He lost track of excuses. He let himself disappear from the world as he became as obsessed and consumed with Mason as he always had, clinging to him, needing him.
Wanting the moment to never end.
When Mason finally pulled his lips away, he whispered, “Stop fighting me.”
Chase ran his fingers down the back of Mason’s head, down his neck, and across his back.
“Don’t leave me again, Chase. Stay with me.”
“I will.” Mason had won. He had beat him once again, and he submitted.
Mason kissed up and down his neck.
A renewed determination rose within Chase. Yes, they might have fucked it up again, but Mason was right. They weren’t some fragile dish that he could shatter and break so easily. They were a family and would still be one through whatever happened. And how could he walk away from Mason when there was a chance it could be so much better than they ever imagined?
Chase ran his fingers across the back of Mason’s head through his hair. “I’m so sorry that I’ve been such an idiot, Mason. I’ll show you. I’ll be the man you deserve. I’m in this all the way this time. I’m not letting you go without a fight.”
Mason pulled away from Chase and gazed into his eyes, and Chase could see the appreciation in his expression, the relief as Mason seemed to realize for the first time that Chase really wasn’t going to grab his things and run off all over again.
“It’s not going to be easy,” Mason said. “You know that, right?”
“Life’s never been easy for us, but here we are.”
When Emery had talked to him in the shed about her fears, he’d gone back to being that little kid who’d broken up with Mason. But they weren’t two kids who didn’t understand how the world worked anymore. They were men, each who had discovered their confidence and their strength, together and then apart. And with their strength pulled together, he believed they could take on the world. And God help the person who tried to stand in their way.
Chase glanced around uneasily. They were still in the middle of the kitchen.
“Another time where we seem to forget where we are,” Chase noted.
“We need to get upstairs. Now.”

Mason fell onto his back on the bed, Chase on top of him.
They’d hurried into his bedroom, stripping out of their clothes.
Mason released Chase just long enough to crawl backwards up the bed, Chase matching his movements until Mason lay his head on a pillow as they continued their kisses. Chase’s confirmation that he was going to give them a chance had brought him relief—relief he’d needed for so long.
The idea of a divorce had terrified him so much. It scared him into believing that he was about to lose another part of his life—one that had mattered so much to him. The person who had given him so much life in his youth and who had finally returned to him.
Chase grabbed some lube from the nightstand and returned to Mason, who lifted his legs and allowed Chase in once again.
Chase worked his way in, sliding slowly, letting Mason adjust to his girth.
“God, you feel so good,” Mason moaned.
“I love you, Mason,” Chase whispered back, and Mason loved hearing those words as Chase filled him with his dick, burying it within him.
“I love you, too,” he said as he arched his back.
