“Is it always like this with you two?” Katelyn can’t help but laugh watching the mess that we are.

Finally, letting out a sigh from expending all his energy, Tobias calls it, leaning back. “Fine. You win,” he pants.

“No fun.” I shake my head, crawling over to him. Placing my head in his lap, I look up at him, tilting the candy towards him with my teeth. “We can share.”

His eyebrows shoot up as he smirks down at me. “Oh, how the mighty have fallen.” He sighs, lowering his lips to mine, biting a chunk of the candy off.

I reach out until I can feel my camera on the blanket. “Don’t move,” I say, placing the lens at my eye. The sky is theperfectshade of blue. Like that muted navy color you only get some days when the clouds are nonexistent and the sky is still. Right here, his eyes are almost the same color and it’s stunning. I snap a few quick photos.

“What does he do with all of those pictures?” Katelyn asks beside us.

“I’ve learnt not to ask questions.” Tobias answers, softly moving his thumb back and forth along my jaw.

“Smart man,” I mutter, as I snap a few more.

“I feelsosingle,” Katelyn sighs, making us all laugh. “Hey, don’t you have to meet with Flux soon?”

“Shit.” I sit up, checking the time on my phone. “Yeah, we’ve gotta go.” I stand, dusting off my pants. I’m almost certain I’m going to have grass stains on my pants after rolling around with Tobias all afternoon.

Whatever, it was worth it.

“Have any tips to make her like me?” Tobias asks Katelyn as he stands to join me.

Katelyn shakes her head. “I’ll let you know once I figure it out.” Her eyes slide over to me. “But Elijah will know. She justloves him.”

I’m confused at her tone of voice but I shake it off. “Yeah, well…come on, T. We’re gonna be late!” I laugh, tugging him after me. “Talk to you later, Katie!” I wave.

“See ya!” She calls out.

“I’m nervous,” Tobias admits, squeezing my hand.

I slow down our pace so we have more time to talk before we get to Flux’s office.

“What!? Really? You’re always so good with meeting new people. I see you all the time at work.” I laugh.

Tobias smiles softly. “That’s a little different. Flux means a lot to you. I want to make a good impression, or whatever.” He scratches the back of his neck with his free hand.

I turn to Tobias, stopping in front of him and place my hands on his shoulders. “She’s going to love you. I’m certain of it.”

“How are you so sure?” Tobias shakes his head, playfulness on his face.

I tilt my head. “Because it’s physically impossible to hate you. I should know. I tried and now look at us.” This makes Tobias blush, looking down at his feet.

Ah, success.

I throw my arm around his shoulder, continuing our walk. “Now, come on. Flux doesn’t like those who are late.”

Tobias

I can feel my sweaty palm as it clings to Elijah’s. He’s all bright eyes and smiles as we walk into Flux’s room. I take a deep breath in as her head pokes up from behind her desktop computer.

“Ah, Elijah, I was just wondering where you…” Her voice trails off as her sharp eyes connect with mine. She lowers her glasses on the bridge of her nose and stares straight at me.

Elijah basically bounces on his toes as we get closer to her. “Professor Flux, I’d like for you to meet—”
